Dave Filoni Teases the Return of the Mortis Gods in ‘Ahsoka’ Season 2
Dave Filoni, the creator of the Ahsoka series, has hinted during Star Wars Celebration that Season 2 will explore deeper into the mysterious Mortis Gods. He stated, “It’s a big mystery, and we’re getting into it. Oh, we’re getting into it.
The first season of Ahsoka ends with Ahsoka and Sabine stuck in a new galaxy, while Thrawn and Ezra return to the main Star Wars galaxy. Baylan finds giant statues of the Mortis gods, powerful Force beings from The Clone Wars.
The Mortis Gods, also known as “The Ones,” are powerful beings introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. They consist of three figures:
- The Father: Represents balance in the Force.
- The Daughter: Embodies the light side of the Force.
- The Son: Embodies the dark side of the Force.
They reside on the realm-world of Mortis, a place believed by some to be where the Force itself originates. The Father maintains balance between the Daughter and the Son, who represent the light and dark sides of the Force, respectively.
Even if viewers hadn’t seen The Clone Wars, the creators hoped the statues would still leave a strong impression.
This is not the first time that Filoni teased great things to come regarding Skoll and the statutes. A year ago he stated that Baylan is a man of dangerous ambitions, hinting that he will awake something near impossible to control.
Baylan’s a man with incredible ambition — perhaps dangerous ambition — but he never sees it that way. He thinks he’s tracking what the truth is, and everybody else has it wrong.
One might interpret Baylan’s initial plan as an attempt to manipulate the Mortis Gods, inadvertently unleashing a greater threat upon the galaxy. Driven not by malice but by ambition and what can be described as a lack of thorough research.
