Fantastic Four: First Steps Wows CCXP MX with Action-Packed Space Scene and Some Big Reveals

The new Fantastic Four movie is on the way, and fans got a closer look during the first edition of CCXP MX, a big pop culture event held in Mexico City from May 30 to June 1 at Centro Banamex.

This year marked the debut of CCXP in Mexico, and it brought in nearly 100,000 visitors. The event featured several areas including the Thunder Stage, Cosplay Universe, Artists’ Valley, Creators Stage, Game Arena, and the Omelete Stage.

On Saturday, May 31, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, the main cast of Fantastic Four: First Steps, appeared live on the Omelete Stage to talk about the upcoming film.

The panel was streamed online for fans in Brazil, as shared by the Brazilian pop culture site Omelete, which organized the event’s coverage.

The most important part of the event however, were some scenes shown to the public. In one scene, Sue is in labor, she’s about to give birth, while the team is aboard their spaceship.

Things quickly turn dangerous as the Silver Surfer is chasing them through space. She’s not just after the team, she seems to be specifically targeting the baby. It’s not clear why yet, but Franklin appears to be very important to the story. Which is something that previous rumors and reports hinted at, that Galactus will start to target the Earth and the Fantastic Four due to having a special connection to Franklin.

As the threat gets closer, Reed makes a bold call. He tells Ben to steer the ship into a black hole. It’s a desperate move, likely their only way to escape the Silver Surfer.

Ralph Ineson is set to play the main villain, Galactus, while Julia Garner appears as a different version of the Silver Surfer, named Shalla-Bal. The film will also feature Reed and Sue’s son, Franklin Richards (of course).

There’s a lot of mystery around some of the other cast members, like Natasha Lyonne, John Malkovich, and Paul Walter Hauser, who are all playing unknown roles for now.

There are strong rumors that Robert Downey Jr. will return as Doctor Doom, now reimagined as a major villain in this new timeline. Fans already expect to see him again in upcoming Avengers movies, Avengers: Doomsday in 2026 and Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027, but it looks like he could show up in Fantastic Four: First Steps as well.

The film is one of the most important projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe right now. It will kick off Phase 6 of the MCU and is set to hit theaters on July 25.

Talking about the film at CCXP MX, the cast seemed excited to finally share some details. While they didn’t spoil the full plot, the energy at the event showed that Marvel is betting big on the return of the Fantastic Four.
