Rob Reiner Shared Which Movie He Wanted to Be Remembered by Just Months Before He Died
Only three months prior to his tragic death, legendary director and actor Rob Reiner opened up about which of his films he considered his life’s work. Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were discovered dead in their Los Angeles home on Sunday, with police suspecting their son committed the double homicide.
In a recent interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored, the filmmaker behind classics like When Harry Met Sally and The Wolf of Wall Street was asked about his legacy. Morgan posed a hypothetical question about which single project Reiner would want the world to remember him by.
The winner of nine Golden Globes initially deflected with a joke. He noted that while people have their own favorites, creators often feel like parents who love all their children equally, even the problematic ones.
However, Reiner then gave a definitive answer. He stated that Stand by Me was the film that held the most significance for him personally.
He explained that the 1986 drama felt like a true extension of his own personality. According to Reiner, it was the work that best captured his sensibility because of its unique blend of humor, melancholy, and deep emotion.
The interview has taken on a haunting quality following the news that Reiner, 78, and his wife, 68, were victims of an apparent homicide. Their bodies were found in Brentwood, and authorities have detained their 32-year-old son, Nick, in connection with the crime.
