Gwyneth Paltrow is returning to the big screen in Marty Supreme, a sports drama inspired by the life of table tennis pro Marty Reisman. In the film, Timothée Chalamet plays a version of the player, while Paltrow appears as his lover—married to a figure linked to a “table-tennis mafia” world.

While promoting the movie, Paltrow shared that watching it with family brought its own kind of pressure. She said her 19-year-old son, Moses Martin, had a very clear reaction to the film’s 18+ moments.

Paltrow recalled attending the Los Angeles premiere on December 8 with Moses, where he saw her intimate scenes with Chalamet on a giant screen. She joked that he basically spent the time covering his face, and even though she warned him ahead of time, he still wasn’t thrilled.

She also compared it to an older, more absurd family-movie moment: bringing her grandfather to see Shakespeare in Love and trying to pre-explain a topless scene. That time, she said, he brushed it off with a blunt, comedic one-liner—something she couldn’t exactly replicate as a “prep talk” for her son.

Paltrow has been open about how unusual it felt filming explicit scenes with Chalamet given their age gap, leaning into humor to break the tension. She also praised him as professional, polite, and serious about the work, even when scenes required vulnerability.

One detail that stood out: Paltrow said she declined an intimacy coordinator on set, saying she comes from an era where actors simply got on with it once the camera rolled. She explained that overly specific choreography would make her feel creatively restricted.

She touched on reactions closer to home, too, saying her husband Brad Falchuk wasn’t bothered by her scenes with Chalamet. Paltrow also mentioned that on-set photos of her and Chalamet kissing went viral and sparked plenty of chatter in her group texts.
