Jacob Elordi Out as Cannes Film Festival Juror Following Injury
Jacob Elordi is no longer being considered for a position on the Cannes Film Festival jury due to a recent injury.
A Hollywood insider informed Page Six that the actor has broken his foot. The source mentioned, “so they’re trying to replace him as a judge at Cannes.” However, this information has not been officially confirmed by either the festival or Elordi’s representatives.
The jury for this year’s Cannes Film Festival has not been fully revealed yet. South Korean director Park Chan-wook has been announced as the jury president, recognized for his acclaimed films such as ‘Old Boy,’ ‘Thirst,’ and ‘Decision to Leave.’
Earlier speculations suggested that Elordi might join the jury alongside other notable names like Demi Moore. Additionally, there are discussions that Julianne Moore could be honored with the Kering Women in Motion Award during the festival.
Elordi’s representatives have yet to respond to media inquiries, including multiple attempts since Friday, as reported by Page Six.
The Cannes Film Festival, scheduled from May 12 to May 23, is renowned for its jury composed of international filmmakers, actors, and writers, often blending established figures with emerging talents.
At 28, Elordi has gained significant attention for his acting, earning an Oscar nomination for ‘Frankenstein’ and starring in ‘Wuthering Heights’ alongside Margot Robbie.
Recent reports have also highlighted his personal life, including rumored connections to Kendall Jenner, although nothing has been publicly confirmed.
In past interviews, Elordi has shared experiences of injuries. He recounted a serious incident while filming where he burned his back on a steam shower, stating, “I leant back and my back seared into the steam knob and I stood up screaming; it tore up my back. When I went to work on Monday I had a second-degree burn.”
Earlier reports from Men’s Health in 2021 noted that Elordi had suffered a back injury during high school rugby, which required him to rest during school for an extended period and continues to affect him today.
As of now, the Cannes jury lineup remains incomplete, and it is uncertain who will take Elordi’s place if the reports hold true.
