Search for the Next James Bond Actor Has Officially Begun

Amazon MGM has confirmed that the search for the next James Bond actor has officially begun. According to Variety, the studio announced that auditions are currently in progress as they embark on the next chapter of the iconic spy franchise.

Casting director Nina Gold is reportedly at the helm of this process. Gold is renowned for her contributions to ‘Game of Thrones’ and several ‘Star Wars’ films.

In a statement shared with Variety, Amazon MGM said: “The search for the next James Bond is underway. While we don’t plan to comment on specific details during the casting process, we’re excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right.”

Fans have eagerly awaited updates on the next Bond since Daniel Craig departed the role following 2021’s ‘No Time To Die’. Interest in the franchise surged even more in February 2025 when longtime Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli transferred creative control of the series to Amazon.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos previously stated to The Independent that the company aims to “make great movies.”

Reports from last year indicated that director Denis Villeneuve, who is set to direct the first Bond film under Amazon, might be considering a lesser-known actor for the role of 007.

Several actors have been associated with the role in recent years. Aaron Taylor-Johnson was once viewed as a strong contender, while names like Tom Holland, Harris Dickinson, and Jacob Elordi have also surfaced in media discussions.

More recently, Callum Turner has gained attention from fans and industry insiders. Earlier this year, The Independent’s Adam White wrote: “Turner… is perfect for this. He’s yet to have a proper breakout role, but has a degree of name recognition, having worked consistently for the last decade or so.”

White also noted that Turner embodies many of the classic Bond traits, adding that he “looks very good in a suit.”

The next Bond film is being penned by ‘Peaky Blinders’ creator Steven Knight. Reports suggest that the movie is not expected to hit theaters before 2028.
