Marvel Studios has a knack for generating excitement around its major crossover events, and the lead-up to December’s mega-team-up is no exception. Long before any trailers are released, the studio has been executing elaborate physical displays in international markets to keep fans engaged.

The latest promotional effort has landed in China, showcasing a new installation that features the film’s superhero team logos set against a backdrop of greenery, staircases, and decorative clouds. This is just one of many international activations aimed at highlighting the vast scope of this crossover.

At the heart of the display is the Avengers’ iconic “A” logo, surrounded by circular emblems representing the X-Men, the Fantastic Four’s “4,” and imagery associated with Wakanda, including a Black Panther-themed trash receptacle nearby. This marks the second significant marketing push in the Shanghai area this year, following an earlier activation at the Shanghai Expo in July that recreated sets from Doctor Doom’s throne room and Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters.

‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ will unite heroes from three previously distinct corners of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time. The Avengers roster includes Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Winston Duke, Tom Hiddleston, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Robert Downey Jr., Wyatt Russell, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, and Danny Ramirez, among others.

Joining them are the leads from ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps,’ featuring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn, along with returning X-Men franchise veterans like Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Kelsey Grammer, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, and Alan Cumming. Channing Tatum will also reprise his Gambit role from ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’

At the center of this ensemble is Robert Downey Jr., who takes on the role of Doctor Doom. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has described Doom as the quintessential supervillain archetype that has influenced generations of pop culture antagonists, emphasizing that Doom’s intelligence, charisma, and firm belief in his own heroism make him a fascinating character.

Earlier marketing materials from the Shanghai Expo depicted Doom surrounded by distinct hero factions, including Steve Rogers, Thor, Ant-Man, and the New Avengers on one side, X-Men members like Cyclops, Mystique, and Magneto on another, and the Fantastic Four alongside Sam Wilson’s Captain America, Black Panther, and Shang-Chi completing the lineup. Loki has also been subtly integrated into some promotional artwork, sparking speculation about his role in the overarching narrative.

The film is directed by the Russo Brothers, with Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito producing alongside the Russos’ AGBO banner. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to hit theaters on December 18, followed by its sequel, ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ which is scheduled for December 17, 2027.

Given the extensive marketing efforts so far, from recreated movie sets to intricate public installations across multiple countries, it’s evident that Marvel is treating this crossover as one of the most significant events in the franchise’s history. With reshoots reportedly still in progress and a first trailer yet to be fully unveiled, fans can anticipate the promotional momentum to continue building as the December release date approaches.
