‘MobLand’ Season 2 Release Date and Perfect Critics’ Score on Rotten Tomatoes
Guy Ritchie and Tom Hardy have established a reputation for crafting stylish, high-octane crime dramas whenever they collaborate, and their partnership on Paramount+’s gangster saga demonstrates that this formula translates seamlessly to television. Since its premiere in March 2025, the series has broken streaming records, quickly becoming one of the platform’s biggest new hits.
This breakout success set high expectations for a follow-up, and Paramount+ wasted no time capitalizing on the momentum, officially greenlighting a second season just weeks after the explosive first-season finale. Now, with ‘MobLand’ making its return, critics have weighed in, and their verdict is overwhelmingly positive.
‘MobLand’ Season 2 has debuted with an impressive 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on early reviews, a significant increase from the show’s solid 77% critical rating for its first season. The series returns on September 18, facing intense internal power struggles within the fractured Harrigan crime empire, alongside aggressive new threats from international syndicates.

Hardy reprises his role as Harry Da Souza, the brooding, street-smart fixer at the heart of the Harrigan family’s criminal operations. He is joined by Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, who return as the unpredictable family heads Conrad and Maeve Harrigan. The returning ensemble also includes Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Anson Boon, Lara Pulver, Jasmine Jobson, and Mandeep Dhillon, with Ophelia Lovibond and Johnny Flynn joining the cast in new recurring roles for the season.
Season 1 concluded with the Stevenson war effectively resolved, following Harry and Kevin’s confrontation with Richie Stevenson and the exposure of family lawyer O’Hara Delaney. This resolution sets the stage for Season 2’s focus on internal fractures within the Harrigan empire, rather than merely facing an external rival.
Instead of releasing the entire season at once for a weekend binge, Paramount+ is opting for a traditional weekly rollout for Season 2, similar to the approach used for the first season. The 10-episode season premieres on September 18, with a new episode released every Friday, culminating in the season finale on November 20.
This pacing allows the Harrigan family’s escalating conflict to develop over the entire season, rather than compressing the drama into a single viewing session. Series creator Ronan Bennett continues to shape the show, which has established its identity around Ritchie’s signature style, even as the day-to-day writing has largely come from Bennett’s team.

The momentum for ‘MobLand’ extends well beyond Season 2. Paramount has confirmed that the series has already been renewed for a third season, with Hardy set to return despite earlier reports of behind-the-scenes tension that briefly fueled speculation about his potential departure. Brosnan has since confirmed to ScreenRant that filming for Season 3 will commence in November, providing fans with concrete confirmation that the crime saga is not slowing down anytime soon.
This renewal news follows an impressive first-season viewership run. ‘MobLand’s’ premiere attracted 2.2 million global viewers, setting a record for any Paramount+ series debut, with viewership climbing by 298% within its first week, making it the platform’s second most-watched series, only behind ‘1923.’
What makes ‘MobLand’s’ success particularly noteworthy is that it exists entirely outside the Taylor Sheridan-verse that dominates much of Paramount+’s original programming, including hits like ‘Landman,’ ‘Mayor of Kingstown,’ and ‘Tulsa King.’ Ritchie’s unique stylistic flair, combined with Hardy’s captivating lead performance, has carved out a distinct identity for the show within a crowded streaming landscape increasingly filled with crime dramas.
With a perfect critics’ score heading into its sophomore premiere and a third season already confirmed, ‘MobLand’ appears poised to continue its ascent as one of Paramount+’s flagship original series for the foreseeable future.
