Netflix Expands ‘The Conjuring’ Universe With New Horror Game ‘The Conjuring Unspoken’
Streaming platforms have evolved significantly over the past few years, becoming more than just places to watch movies and shows. Netflix’s gaming division has been at the forefront of this transformation, moving from a small selection of mobile titles to a more ambitious offering, especially as we approach the spooky season.
The latest addition is ‘The Conjuring: Unspoken,’ a new narrative-driven game inspired by the hugely popular ‘The Conjuring’ cinematic universe. This was confirmed by What’s on Netflix, which found the title listed in the streamer’s October 2026 New on Netflix newsletter. Set to launch later this month, the game is positioned as Netflix’s flagship horror release just in time for Halloween.
In a departure from Netflix’s usual mobile-only game offerings, ‘The Conjuring: Unspoken’ will be a Cloud release. This means subscribers can stream it directly to their television or web browser while using their smartphones as controllers. According to the game’s official description, players will explore the fictional Red Lion Inn, searching for paranormal signals and uncovering the unsettling events affecting a grieving family throughout this cinematic experience.
Since its inception in 2013 by director James Wan, ‘The Conjuring Universe’ has become one of the most profitable franchises in horror, based on the dramatized case files of real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. The franchise has expanded beyond its main films into interconnected spinoffs like the ‘Annabelle’ series and ‘The Nun,’ collectively grossing billions worldwide. Warner Bros. Discovery owns and distributes the property through its New Line Cinema label, with production typically overseen by Peter Safran’s The Safran Company and Wan’s Atomic Monster.
Integrating such a significant IP into Netflix’s cloud gaming beta demonstrates the platform’s confidence in its growing gaming division and highlights its serious investment in the horror genre this year.
This announcement follows the success of ‘Unhinged,’ another high-profile horror title that gained traction for Netflix Games earlier this year. Developed by Netflix-owned Night School Studio, known for ‘Oxenfree,’ ‘Unhinged’ featured Zoë Kravitz, Sadie Sink, and Troy Baker in an immersive thriller about a woman trapped in her apartment during a hurricane, utilizing players’ phones as both flashlight and lifeline throughout the approximately 30-minute experience.
Launched on June 30, ‘Unhinged’ received widespread acclaim for its innovative use of phone integration for calls, texts, and real-time decision-making, making it feel more like an interactive film than a traditional mobile game. Its success seems to have paved the way for Netflix’s decision to introduce an established horror franchise like ‘The Conjuring’ into the cloud gaming arena.
As with all Netflix Games titles, ‘The Conjuring: Unspoken’ will be available to subscribers at no additional cost, with no ads or in-app purchases required. While details about the developing studio and how closely the game’s story will align with the broader film franchise are still under wraps, its Halloween release strongly indicates that Netflix is positioning it as the seasonal highlight of its gaming lineup.
With horror gaming emerging as a significant growth area for Netflix this year, ‘The Conjuring: Unspoken’ is poised to explore how far the streamer can push interactive storytelling using some of its most prominent licensed properties.
