Milan Fashion Week transforms the city into a vibrant runway, and this season is no different. Amidst the shows and street-style enthusiasts, celebrity looks often steal the spotlight, and Laura Harrier’s appearance on Thursday is a prime example.

This week is significant, as Milan’s September edition runs from September 22 to 28, showcasing the Spring/Summer 2027 women’s collections. The calendar features 54 physical shows and six digital ones, starting with Prada and followed by Fendi, which presented Maria Grazia Chiuri’s second collection for the house, along with many fresh creative highlights.

Harrier dazzled in a fitted, floor-length gown featuring a deep plum-burgundy hue and a glossy finish that reflects light beautifully. The halter neckline and fully open back create a sleek front view while offering a dramatic silhouette from behind. The visible seaming along the dress adds a structured, almost sculptural element to the column shape.

Her styling emphasizes the gown, with her hair slicked back into a smooth low bun, allowing the bare back and halter straps to take center stage. Her makeup remains understated, as she poses from various angles, looking over her shoulder towards the camera.

The dramatic setting enhances the look, with Harrier standing on a balcony that overlooks a grand glass-domed arcade, adorned with painted arches and intricate architecture. The contrast between her dark, glossy gown and the pale stonework and glass creates a striking visual.

While the specifics of Harrier’s destination that day remain unclear, the week is bustling with activity. Milan is also experiencing notable changes this season, with Glenn Martens presenting his final collection as creative director at Diesel, and Versace opting out of showing. Additionally, Loris Messina and Simone Rizzo of Sunnei will debut as the new designers at Moschino on September 25.

Louise Trotter is set to present her third collection for Bottega Veneta on September 26. The Saturday of the week is particularly packed, featuring shows from Ferragamo, Dolce & Gabbana, MSGM, Laura Biagiotti, and Bottega Veneta all within a few hours. Giorgio Armani will conclude the week with its women’s spring 2027 line at 11 a.m. CET on Sunday.

The front rows have been filled with stars, including Monica Bellucci, Rachel Zegler, Kelly Rutherford, and Jordyn Woods at Jil Sander, Fendi, and Missoni, while Jennifer Lopez, Gigi Hadid, and Cardi B have also been spotted throughout the week’s events. This makes Milan the perfect backdrop for such a bold look.

Harrier is no stranger to Milan’s fashion scene. She attended the Gucci Fall/Winter 2026 show at Palazzo Delle Scintille on February 27, 2026, and has earned a reputation for her daring evening ensembles. Last year, she wore a black sequin Gucci by Demna gown at the Academy Museum Gala, later changing into a sheer black Dolce & Gabbana dress from the brand’s spring 2024 collection for the after-party.

In comparison, the plum gown offers a more streamlined approach to glamour, focusing on shine, cut, and an open back rather than embellishments. It’s a look that is equally captivating in a candid balcony shot as it would be in the front row.
