Rockstar Unveils $400 GTA 6 Collector’s Box Without the Game
Every major game launch typically features a collector’s edition, and fans of Rockstar’s highly anticipated project have been eagerly awaiting this moment. The announcement has finally arrived, but it comes with a surprising twist that left many online doing double takes. Rockstar’s latest marketing move introduces a box filled with ‘Leonida’ souvenirs priced higher than most consoles’ game collections.
Set in the fictional state of Leonida, with Vice City at its core, the story revolves around the characters Jason and Lucia. The game is set to release on November 19, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with preloading available starting November 12. Rockstar has been ramping up its promotional efforts, including a 27-minute gameplay presentation titled ‘An Extended Look’ that debuted on Netflix in August, alongside a soundtrack album and limited-edition PS5 controllers.
On Thursday, Rockstar took things further by revealing ‘Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection’. Priced at $399.99 in the US and £349.99 in the UK, this collector’s box is now available for pre-order in limited quantities, but it notably does not include the game. The box is expected to ship on the same day as the game, and a post by DiscussingFilm about it garnered over 138,000 views within hours.
Rockstar markets this as a premium box filled with essentials for a good time, inspired by Macca the Gator, a fictional character from Leonida’s hit TV show. The centerpiece of the collection is a 6-inch Macca the Gator figure featuring a twist-open base for storing valuables, depicted enjoying a smoke and a flamingo blood martini. The package also includes a pair of matte black Oakley Frogskins with Prizm Sapphire lenses and a Vice City pink GTAVI logo.

The apparel included features a ripstop Leonida Keys crossbody bag with woven patches and a custom YKK zipper pull. Additionally, a New Era 9FORTY A-Frame snapback hat with Vice City Leonida embroidery and appliques completes the look.
The remaining items embrace the game’s signature humor:
- A Macca the Gator magnetic mirror in electroplated pink glass, usable as a tray or wall art
- A Chunkee the Manatee shot glass with a laser-etched Rockstar logo on the bottom
- A Vice City swizzle spoon featuring a Rockstar Games logo tip
- A razor-blade-style keychain embossed with GTAVI and Vice City logos
- Nine Leonida Keys enamel pins in a custom metal tin
- Nine vinyl stickers in a stash bag
- A double-sided poster showcasing characters from the Macca TV show on one side and a full map of Leonida on the other
This concept is not entirely new. GamingBible pointed out that this box resembles the collector’s edition Rockstar released for ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’, which also included various trinkets without the game. The twist-open stash compartment has become a hallmark of Rockstar’s collector’s items, as noted by TheGamer.
Measuring approximately 48 by 34 by 32 centimeters, Rockstar emphasizes that this set is designed for adult collectors and contains small parts. Orders are limited to one per person, and fans can wishlist the collection if it sells out.

The $400 price tag has certainly caught attention, especially since the game itself starts at $79.99. TheGamer remarked that while the price may sting, the contents are impressive enough to justify it somewhat. Leaks prior to the announcement hinted at 22 pieces of merchandise, and additional apparel and items have yet to be officially revealed, suggesting more products may be on the way.
For many fans, the real highlight is the marketing campaign. Rockstar and Miami-Dade County have been erecting large-scale signs throughout downtown Miami, and shops have begun displaying posters. Each new merchandise reveal adds to the excitement, making the launch feel like a significant pop-culture event.
With less than two months remaining, the pressing question is whether the limited stock will sell out swiftly. Judging by social media reactions, many collectors are already gearing up to visit the Rockstar Store.
