Mikey Madison Shines in Couture at ‘The Social Reckoning’ Gala Screening
‘The Social Network‘ casts a significant shadow. The 2010 film grossed over $226 million and received 8 Oscar nominations, with Aaron Sorkin winning an Oscar for its screenplay. Anything associated with its universe faces high expectations, and Mikey Madison’s ‘The Social Reckoning’ is no exception.
Sorkin writes and directs this new film, described as a companion piece rather than a direct sequel. Madison portrays Frances Haugen, the young Facebook engineer turned whistleblower, while Jeremy Allen White plays Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz and Jeremy Strong steps into the role of an older Mark Zuckerberg, replacing Jesse Eisenberg.
With the film just over a week away from its release, the press tour has officially begun. On Tuesday, September 29, Madison graced the carpet at the UK gala screening at Curzon Mayfair in London, and her appearance in a butter-yellow gown has been making waves online.

Madison wore a design by Standing Ground from its Fall 2026 couture collection. The strapless gown featured a crumb-catcher-style neckline with a small piece of black fabric adding a pop of contrast, and the form-fitting dress was adorned with a bubble motif across the fabric.

In the photos, she styled her dark hair loose and wavy, complemented by a soft smile and long drop earrings. The pale yellow-green hue stood out beautifully against the blue carpet backdrop of the London gala.
Standing Ground’s collection made its debut during Paris Couture Week in July, where creative director Michael Stewart showcased his signature covered beading to structure the looks. For jewelry, Madison opted for pieces from Tiffany & Co., where she serves as a campaign star and ambassador.

This screening also marks a much-anticipated return for Madison. ‘The Social Reckoning’ is her first film appearance since her Oscar-winning role in 2024’s ‘Anora’.
Few awards-season winners vanish from the red carpet as completely as she has, making this look a bright welcome back. It also raises the stakes, as the film’s reception is crucial for her career.

Madison was joined at the London event by Sorkin and White. Just Jared noted that these were the first photos of the two lead actors together on the red carpet.
White donned a beige Louis Vuitton single-breasted sport jacket paired with a black tie, brown corduroy trousers, a black leather belt, and black boots. Sorkin, the film’s writer and director, walked the carpet alongside them.
The film follows Haugen as she collaborates with Horwitz on a perilous journey that uncovers the social network’s biggest secrets. Inspired by true events, it is described as a David and Goliath story, leaning more towards a thriller than ‘The Social Network’.
Sorkin has expressed doubts about anyone writing a sequel to the original film. It was the story of Haugen and Horwitz that ultimately convinced him he had a worthy follow-up to tell. He has also praised Strong’s performance, noting that the actor maintained Zuckerberg’s voice throughout filming.

The supporting cast includes Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen, and Bill Burr. Todd Black, Peter Rice, and Stuart Besser produce alongside Sorkin.
Eisenberg opted not to reprise his role as Zuckerberg, stating that his reasons were unrelated to the film’s potential brilliance. ‘The Social Reckoning’ is set to hit theaters on October 9, roughly 16 years after ‘The Social Network’, and it carries an R rating for language.
With a new trailer released in August and a prime fall release date, the film is positioned as an adult drama for the awards season. For Madison, it presents an opportunity to follow her Oscar win with another prominent role in a Sorkin script.
