New ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Poster Highlights Doctor Doom and His Mysterious Witches
Marvel’s marketing for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ has maintained a remarkably consistent theme. Each new poster reinforces the idea that Doctor Doom is at the heart of the story, with the campaign focusing almost entirely on the villain, prompting fans to analyze every reveal.
This strategy began early on. Marvel Studios debuted its first Doctor Doom poster alongside the film’s trailer, proclaiming that “December 18th is Doomsday.” A subsequent poster from the Comic-Con presentation showcased Robert Downey Jr.’s character in a full-body portrait featuring a green cloak and metal armor.
The latest artwork takes this concept even further. DiscussingFilm shared an HD version of the poster on X, depicting Doom descending the steps of his throne room, flanked by three masked Latverian Witches beneath a glowing green stained-glass window. The tagline “12.18.26 IS DOOMSDAY” is prominently displayed at the bottom alongside the Marvel Studios logo.

The big question remains: who are the figures behind those masks? The poster does not reveal the identities of the performers or whether they are familiar Marvel characters. Speculation among fans includes names like Scarlet Witch, Clea, and Sylvie, but nothing has been confirmed.
These witches seem to be a new addition to the Marvel universe, as one outlet points out they are not part of Marvel Comics. Fans have taken to calling them the Three Latverian Witches since they first appeared during the promotion at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. The poster has also sparked renewed rumors about a possible return for Wanda Maximoff.
Interestingly, this artwork was shared as a physical promotional item at San Diego Comic-Con Málaga, which took place from October 1 to October 4 in Spain, rather than being a standard online release from Marvel Studios. This detail suggests caution in interpreting the image as a cast announcement.
Directed by the Russo brothers, the film’s official description hints at heroes from three universes facing a dire existential threat. Marvel Studios has clarified that Downey is portraying Victor von Doom, not a returning Tony Stark.
The Comic-Con footage added depth to the narrative. In it, Doom is seen in his throne room, featuring a glowing green, rune-like design on the floor, while Sue Storm’s voiceover reveals her realization of his brokenness. This sets a more tragic tone for a character typically framed as a mere threat.
The film boasts a substantial runtime of 165 minutes. With the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and returning X-Men all involved, there’s ample opportunity for a story centered around Doom.
Marvel is also vying for attention, as ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ opens on the same day as ‘Dune: Part Three,’ which will dominate IMAX screens for three weeks. In response, Disney has created its own Infinity Vision brand for premium showings. Tickets went on sale on July 20, ahead of Marvel’s Comic-Con presentation.

The first full trailer made a significant impact, reportedly garnering around 503 million views within its first 24 hours. Marvel has also utilized ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore,’ which began screening on September 25, to provide audiences with an exclusive glimpse of the new film, along with an additional sneak peek for premium screens.
Each new poster contributes to the growing excitement. With the throne room, the witches, and the villain himself, Marvel is giving fans plenty to theorize about as the release date approaches.
