The 83rd Venice International Film Festival concluded on September 12, yet Sydney Sweeney’s appearance continues to captivate fashion enthusiasts. Her time in Italy has been a hot topic, especially impressive considering she had no film to promote at this year’s event.

Sweeney arrived in Venice on September 2, showcasing an archive look from Georges Chakra’s Spring 2003 collection, which featured a sheer lace halter top paired with beige Bermuda shorts and pink Gianvito Rossi clear mules. After stepping back from the red carpet earlier this year following a significant career milestone and the finale of ‘Euphoria’, this trip marked her return to the limelight.

Recently, a fresh batch of images from her Venice trip has surfaced. In one, Sweeney beams beside a staircase, glancing back at the camera with her blonde waves cascading past her shoulders. In another, she radiates joy as she strolls through a bustling Venetian street at night, a blurred crowd behind her.

Both images highlight a stunning piece: a shimmering gunmetal-grey gown with thin straps and a dark floral embellishment at the shoulder. This vintage Giorgio Armani dress, worn at the Armani Beauty dinner on September 3, quickly became one of the most discussed outfits of her trip.

The gown, sourced from Raffe Vintage, comes from Armani’s Fall/Winter 2000 collection. It features silver sequins and tiny beads, with a backless silhouette. The small rosette appliqué at the shoulder is particularly eye-catching in the new photos.

As an ambassador for Armani Beauty, which celebrated its ninth consecutive year as the festival’s official beauty sponsor, Sweeney wore the gown at a dinner held in the Royal Gardens, just steps from St. Mark’s Square. Her blonde hair was styled in soft waves, with subtle makeup allowing the dress to take center stage.

She wasn’t the only star in the Armani spotlight that evening. Kendall Jenner also donned a vintage 1995 Armani gown, while other guests included Jonathan Bailey, Vittoria Ceretti, Nicholas Galitzine, Nina Dobrev, Carlos Sainz, and J Balvin.

The Armani gown fits into a broader trend, as Sweeney’s entire Venice wardrobe featured vintage designer pieces. Earlier on September 2, she dined at Harry’s Bar in an archival strapless white Chanel dress from Spring 1987 by Karl Lagerfeld.

Later, she was seen boarding a speedboat in a white lace midi dress with a sheer skirt. Style commentators noted her trip as a series of semi-sheer, vintage-inspired looks, skillfully blending daytime ease with evening elegance.

Venice has become a recurring backdrop for Sweeney’s most memorable fashion moments. She attended the festival in 2022, 2023, and 2024, before skipping last year. Additionally, she was in the city in June last year for Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding, where she met her boyfriend, music executive Scooter Braun.

Braun joined her again this time, and the couple was spotted enjoying a romantic gondola ride, adding a sentimental touch to a trip already filled with standout outfits.

Since early 2023, Sweeney has been an ambassador for Armani Beauty, fronting several campaigns for the brand. This history explains why an archival Armani gown felt like a perfect fit for her in Venice.

Even more than a month later, the sequined gown continues to dazzle. It exemplifies how a single well-chosen vintage piece can keep a fashion moment alive long after the festival has concluded.
