Few Marvel storylines have captivated fans quite like the concept of Spider-Men sharing the screen. The multiverse has opened the door for various iterations of the same hero to intersect, and audiences have been eager for more since. As the release of the next Avengers film approaches, speculation about which web-slinger will make an appearance has reached a fever pitch.

This excitement traces back to ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ in 2021, which united Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield, and Tobey Maguire. The film grossed an astounding $1.9 billion globally, marking it as the biggest commercial success of the Multiverse Saga. Maguire, who hasn’t donned the Spider-Man suit since, expressed gratitude for his return and noted that working alongside Garfield and Holland was a unique experience.

Now, with ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ set to premiere on December 18, online sentiment has revealed an intriguing trend. A circulating chart indicates that prediction-market traders are giving Maguire approximately a 90% chance of appearing in the film, while Holland is at just 49%. This stark contrast is surprising, especially considering Holland is the current Spider-Man in the MCU.

It’s crucial to clarify that none of this information is official. Marvel’s initial casting announcement included around 27 actors, and neither Holland, Maguire, nor Garfield were listed. Kevin Feige has hinted that the complete cast has yet to be revealed, leaving the door open for surprises.

The percentages reflect traders’ predictions rather than insider knowledge. They illustrate where fan and market expectations are leaning, which can shift rapidly with new rumors. Consider them more of a mood indicator than definitive confirmation.

Speculation surrounding Maguire has been building for a year. Insider Daniel Richtman suggested that Maguire’s Spider-Man would appear in ‘Doomsday,’ while another report claimed that Maguire and Garfield were the only legacy heroes confirmed for ‘Doomsday’ or ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’ A later insider report even claimed that his version of the hero would survive the film.

Fans have also pointed to a September 2025 sighting of Maguire with a fan in London, where ‘Doomsday’ was being filmed at the time. Earlier reports hinted at a dramatic opening involving incursions that could destroy universes, though these claims remain unverified. Additionally, Hasbro is reportedly planning a Marvel Legends figure of Maguire’s Spider-Man, according to one outlet.

Holland’s absence from the early cast list has sparked considerable debate. One report suggested that his Spider-Man would not appear in ‘Doomsday’ and that Marvel was reserving him for ‘Secret Wars.’ Others have pointed out that Holland’s own film, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day,’ released on July 31, was intended to kick off a “proper Spider-Man” era focused on street-level narratives, as per Feige.

That film became the highest-grossing Spider-Man movie, the highest-grossing film of 2026, and the third-highest-grossing film of all time. Given this success, Marvel has every reason to keep Holland’s character central to its future plans. Whether that includes a cameo in ‘Doomsday’ remains uncertain.

The post-credits scene of Holland’s latest film has only fueled the speculation. Some viewers noticed a “new Spider-Man sighting” alert that didn’t seem to reference Holland’s Peter, leading to theories that it could hint at another version, possibly Maguire’s. Holland’s vague responses regarding Maguire’s potential appearance have only intensified the speculation.

However, none of this confirms anything. Marvel is known for its misdirection, and the cast of ‘No Way Home’ spent nearly a year denying their involvement before the film’s release. This history makes every denial and rumor harder to trust.

With ‘Doomsday’ set to release in just a few months, answers should come soon. The Russo brothers are directing from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely, and ‘Secret Wars’ is scheduled to follow in 2027. A final trailer or unexpected cast announcement could clarify the situation at any time.

Until then, the numbers reveal a lot about what fans desire. They want to see Maguire back in the suit, and they are eager to learn about the future of Holland’s story. Only Marvel knows how it all fits together.
