For years, the narrative of the Jackson 5 has primarily centered around its most renowned member, Michael Jackson. His solo career often overshadowed the contributions of the four brothers who were instrumental in shaping the group’s sound. However, this is set to change significantly.

Interest in the Jackson family has surged this year. The Michael Jackson biopic ‘Michael,’ directed by Antoine Fuqua and featuring Jaafar Jackson, premiered on April 24, 2026. In August, Marlon Jackson revealed he is developing ‘The Manager. The Mythology. The Legend.,’ an eight-episode docuseries about their father, Joe Jackson, for BLK Prime.

Now, a new documentary is set to give the brothers their long-overdue spotlight. Launching at the MIPCOM market, this film will tell the story of Jackie, Jermaine, Tito, and Marlon Jackson for the first time, as reported by Variety. Produced by Banijay UK’s Workerbee and Paper Route Studios, with Mediawan managing international distribution, the documentary is poised to make a significant impact.

While the film remains untitled, its description hints at a deep dive into the lives of four brothers who were part of one of the world’s earliest and most successful boy bands. It will also examine the distinct paths each brother took after their initial fame. The documentary will run for 90 minutes and can also be viewed as a three-part docuseries.

This project has been in development for three years and is directed by Benjamin Hirsch, known for his work on Janet Jackson’s documentary. The producers have gained exclusive access to the four brothers, allowing them to share their story in a way that has never been done before. They also promise never-before-seen footage from the family archives, which could provide rare insights into the group’s formative years.

One of the most touching aspects of the film is that it includes Tito Jackson’s final interview before his passing in 2024. This adds a layer of emotional depth that transcends a typical music documentary. Fans can expect to find his reflections on the group’s journey to be one of the most poignant elements of the film.

Workerbee Group CEO Rick Murray expressed to Variety that it was an immediate decision to collaborate with The Jacksons when Marc Pos approached them. He referred to the Jackson 5 as one of the most influential musical acts in history. Pos and Murray are serving as executive producers, with Yessica De Brouwer as associate producer.

This isn’t the first time the brothers have appeared together on screen. In 2009, A&E announced a reality series featuring Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon as they worked on a new album and tour, focusing on their lives following Michael’s death.

However, this new documentary aims for a broader, more reflective perspective. Instead of capturing a single moment, it will chronicle the entire arc of their careers. It arrives at a time when audiences are eager for more context about the family’s history.

Creating music documentaries about family acts can be challenging, as they must balance nostalgia with honesty. The Jackson story is particularly complex, featuring a demanding father, a swift rise through Motown, and a legacy that remains widely debated. Allowing the four brothers to control the narrative could lead to a revealing viewing experience.

MIPCOM serves as a marketplace for international buyers seeking programming, making the film’s launch there just the beginning of its journey. A release date, platform, and title have yet to be announced. Given the recent interest surrounding the family, it is likely to attract significant attention from buyers.

For fans of the Jackson 5, this documentary represents a long-awaited opportunity to hear directly from the brothers. It also serves as a heartfelt tribute to Tito, whose final words will resonate through the film.
