Few animated superhero series have maintained a pace like ‘Invincible.’ After a lengthy wait between its earlier seasons, the Prime Video sensation has established an annual rhythm, allowing fans to mark their calendars each year. Now, the next season has a confirmed timeframe, thanks to one of the show’s creators.

Based on the comic by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley, the series follows Mark Grayson as he embraces his role as Earth’s protector while uncovering the truth about his father, Omni-Man. The fourth season aired from March 18 to its finale on April 22, 2026, concluding with a tense truce between Mark and Thragg, leaving viewers with numerous questions about what lies ahead.

Co-creator Ryan Ottley has now confirmed that the fifth season will debut in March 2027, although an exact premiere date has yet to be revealed.

March aligns with the show’s previous release pattern. Season three premiered in February 2025, followed by season four in March 2026, making a similar timeframe widely anticipated. Kirkman had also hinted in a Collider Q&A that the team was in good shape, mentioning they were receiving final animation and that the season might land in April.

This March confirmation is a welcome piece of news for fans, indicating that production is on track and maintaining the annual streak. The creators have expressed that this approach is their plan moving forward.

Prime Video renewed the series for a fifth season on July 17, 2025, even before the fourth season premiered, announcing that voice recording was already completed. The team has indicated that they have been working on the new season for quite some time. At one point, Kirkman noted they were deep into production on season five while still promoting earlier seasons.

This head start is crucial, as animation for an eight-episode season can take years, necessitating early work. This overlap has also contributed to the reduced gaps between seasons.

While the official synopsis is still under wraps, some details have been confirmed. Thragg and Dinosaurus will return, while Conquest, voiced by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, will not be back. Lee Pace voices Thragg, and Matthew Rhys voices Dinosaurus.

The core cast, including Steven Yeun as Mark, Sandra Oh as Debbie, and J.K. Simmons as Omni-Man, is expected to reprise their roles. The season four finale left the Viltrumites hiding on Earth and several storylines unresolved, setting the stage for plenty to address. The series has also been blending original content with its comic adaptation, so surprises are likely.

The future of the show appears secure. A sixth season has also been announced, with Kirkman suggesting there could be anywhere from seven to nine seasons overall, with aspirations of reaching 11 or more. He has stated that the team won’t stop working on the show until everyone involved is burnt out.

This long-term vision provides the series with a momentum that few animated shows experience. It also reflects the loyalty of its fanbase, who have followed Mark’s journey through shocking twists and continue to return for more.

With March now confirmed, fans can anticipate a teaser or trailer from Prime Video soon. The streamer has been building toward the return with the same steady approach it has used previously. Expect more cast announcements and story details as the release date approaches.

For now, the message is clear: the wait is shorter than usual, production is progressing well, and the creators are excited. After a finale that left many questions unanswered, this is precisely what fans wanted to hear.
