This holiday season, Chanel is taking a fresh approach to beauty campaigns, moving away from the typical glitter and bold red lips. Instead, the brand draws inspiration from snowy mountains and the rosy glow that follows a day on the slopes, featuring a familiar face to embody this mood.

Margaret Qualley is the star of Chanel’s holiday makeup collection, showcasing her in a chic cream-and-black fuzzy jacket adorned with gold buttons. Her look includes a golden eyeliner, glossy pink lips, and a gold manicure, all set against an icy tabletop featuring the brand’s emblem. In one striking image, she rests her head on her hand, while in another, she beams with a bright smile.

The collection captures an alpine essence, featuring icy whites, warm browns, pinks, and gold. As reported by V Magazine, the campaign evokes an après-ski vibe, highlighting flushed cheeks and the way light reflects off the skin. This collection offers a softer, more accessible take on seasonal glamour.

The face and cheek products set the tone beautifully. The XXL Highlighter in Neige d’Or and the Joues Contraste Intense blush in Mont Rose combine pale luminosity with rosy warmth. The packaging features embossed powders and a white textured highlighter sleeve, enhancing the winter theme.

For the eyes, Les 4 Ombres in Ombre d’Or merges brown, pink, and pale gold, while Le Liner in Éclat Doré adds a vibrant golden touch. Qualley’s eyeliner in the campaign images reflects this gilded detail, subtly introducing metallic elements into an otherwise soft palette.

Glossy lips complete the collection, featuring Rouge Coco Hydra Gloss in Givré, a frosty shine, and Étincelle, a golden shimmer. Additionally, a 3-piece gift set includes the exclusive pink shade Aura and a stylish white pouch.

On the nails, Le Vernis in Blanc Alpin and Scintillance extends the white-and-gold palette to fingertips, enhancing the campaign’s winter aesthetic from head to toe. Together, these products create a cohesive, snow-inspired narrative rather than a random assortment of seasonal shades.

Qualley is no stranger to Chanel, having modeled for the brand early in her career and now serving as a Chanel ambassador in various campaigns. In 2024, she was photographed by Inez and Vinoodh as the face of the Fall-Winter ready-to-wear collection, embodying the essence of the Parisian woman.

More recently, she donned a stunning red-to-blush Chanel gown from the Pre-Fall collection at the Los Angeles premiere of ‘How to Make a Killing’ in February. Her looks have consistently showcased the brand’s evolving aesthetic, and this holiday campaign continues that tradition on the beauty front.

Qualley’s association with Chanel has also ventured into storytelling. In November, the brand appointed A$AP Rocky as a brand ambassador and featured him alongside Qualley in a short film directed by Michel Gondry, which served as a teaser for Matthieu Blazy’s debut Métiers d’Art collection, showcased in New York on December 2.

This film was playful and fast-paced, contrasting with the calm, frosty elegance of the new campaign. Together, they illustrate how Chanel utilizes Qualley across different styles, from comic energy to serene sophistication, highlighting her versatility as a performer.

The campaign arrives as Qualley garners attention for her acting. Her romantic drama ‘Love of Your Life’, co-starring Aaron Pierre, begins streaming on Prime Video today. She also co-starred in Ridley Scott’s post-apocalyptic drama ‘The Dog Stars’ this year.

For Chanel, having a star at the center of a film release, a fashion moment, and a beauty campaign provides ample opportunity for visibility. For Qualley, it signifies her seamless transition between screen and runway.

The charm of the campaign lies in its subtlety. Rather than relying on heavy drama, it emphasizes glow, warmth, and a hint of shimmer, making it suitable for wear beyond the holiday season. The gold accents on the eyes and nails add a festive flair without overshadowing the face.

Chanel makeup enthusiasts will find plenty to discover, from the highlighter to the gift set. For those seeking a holiday palette that feels as refreshing as new fallen snow rather than a typical party look, this collection offers a clear perspective.
