Grace Caroline Currey Returns for the ‘Fall’ Trilogy Finale
A fear-of-heights thriller isn’t typically expected to evolve into a franchise, yet ‘Fall’ has managed to do just that on a modest budget. Recently, the question arose about whether Grace Caroline Currey, the star of the original film, would make a return to the heights.
The 2022 film followed best friends Becky and Hunter, who find themselves stranded atop a 2,000-foot radio tower. Made for $3 million, it grossed approximately $21 million worldwide, with Currey and co-star Virginia Gardner performing their own stunts. Following its success, Capstone Studios greenlit two sequels, with Scott Mann set to co-write and direct the third installment.
Next came ‘Fall 2: Deadpoint,’ which premiered in theaters on September 2 under the direction of Peter and Michael Spierig. This sequel shifted the action to Thailand’s Mount Kwan, featuring a new lead cast of Harriet Slater, Arsema Thomas, and Tom Brittney. The theatrical performance was lackluster, casting doubt on the series’ future.
In light of this, the latest news reveals that Currey will reprise her role in ‘Fall 3,’ with filming scheduled for 2027. Dread Central exclusively reported this casting, highlighting that the franchise is moving forward by bringing back the star who contributed to the original’s success. Mann, the director of the first film, is also set to return to direct the new installment.
According to Dread Central, the screenplay for the third film is already complete. It references a recent interview with Mann in The Hollywood News, where he discussed writing the second and third films back-to-back alongside co-writer Jonathan Frank. This approach indicates that the trilogy was envisioned as a cohesive narrative from the start.
iHorror also notes that both sequels were greenlit simultaneously, aligning with this vision. The Spierig Brothers pitched this structure, and Currey’s return provides the trilogy with a continuity that ‘Deadpoint’ lacked. Mann has consistently served as a producer and co-writer throughout the process.

‘Deadpoint’ debuted with $2.3 million across 1,704 theaters, eventually reaching around $5 million in the U.S. Its international earnings brought the worldwide total to approximately $25.7 million, according to The Numbers. The film also received a B- CinemaScore, slightly lower than the original’s B.
Critics had mixed reactions as well. The sequel holds a score of about 57% on Rotten Tomatoes from 30 reviews, with some praising the vertigo-inducing visuals while others criticized the predictability of the plot. One review suggested that the film’s premise was less believable the second time around.
The sequel became available digitally on October 6, but the decision to bring back Currey and Mann signals a clear effort to refocus on what resonated with audiences. Mann has expressed his intention to personally direct the third film, which could lend a sense of authorship to the finale. This consistency may be significant for fans who appreciated the tension and simplicity of the first movie.

At this point, details remain scarce. There is no release date, plot synopsis, or confirmation on whether other original cast members, like Gardner, will return. Dread Central has only confirmed Currey’s involvement and that production is set to begin next year.
Currey has previously stated that ‘Fall’ was the most challenging project she has ever undertaken. Her willingness to return to the role of Becky is particularly noteworthy. The big question remains whether the finale can recapture the magic of the original.
Fans of the original film now have a reason to feel optimistic again, even after the disappointing sequel. The third film aims to conclude Becky’s journey and demonstrate that the franchise still has something new to offer. It’s a high-wire act, but ‘Fall’ has always excelled when the stakes are elevated.
