Nicholas Hoult has opened up about his role as Lex Luthor in the upcoming Superman movie by James Gunn. While many know the character from comic books, Hoult first encountered Superman through the 2001 TV series Smallville.

He shared this during his panel at MegaCon Orlando, where he also mentioned his excitement to meet Michael Rosenbaum, who played Lex Luthor in the show.

When asked about his character’s stance on Superman, Hoult explained that Lex’s concern over Superman’s power is understandable. He questioned what happens when someone with such power doesn’t align with others’ moral beliefs. Hoult praised Gunn’s writing, calling it smart and fun, though he teased that he wouldn’t reveal too much.

The highly anticipated Superman movie is set to hit theaters on July 11, starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Directed and written by James Gunn, this film kicks off the new DC Universe (DCU) and serves as a reboot of the Superman franchise.

Fans are eager to see Hoult take on the iconic villain role when Superman premieres this summer. He’s already thinking about what’s next for Lex Luthor and hopes to portray the character for a long time.
