The second season of Bocchi the Rock! is officially happening. This was confirmed after a teaser video dropped on Saturday. The new season will see some changes in the production team.

Yūsuke Yamamoto, who directed episodes in the first season, will take over as the main director, replacing Keiichirō Saitō. The series will still have Bocchi the Rock!‘s scriptwriter Erika Yoshida, while character designs will be handled by Keimon Oda, who worked as a key animator on the first season.

The show is based on Bocchi the Rock!, a four-panel manga by Aki Hamaji. It tells the story of Hitori Gotō, a lonely high school girl who loves playing the guitar. She spends her days practicing alone until she meets Nijika Ijichi, who invites her to join a band called the Kessoku Band.

The first season was directed by Keiichirō Saitō, and Kerorira designed the characters.

The anime’s first film, Bocchi the Rock! Re:, premiered on June 7, 2024. It performed well at the box office, selling 140,000 tickets and earning around 1.38 million USD in its first weekend. A second film, Bocchi the Rock! Re:Re:, followed in August.
