Daniel Craig Reacts to Amazon’s Full Takeover of the ‘James Bond’ Franchise

Daniel Craig shared his thoughts on Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli stepping back from their long-held positions in the James Bond franchise. Craig, who portrayed the iconic spy in five films, expressed his admiration for both producers.
He said, ‘My respect, admiration and love for Barbara and Michael remain constant and undiminished.’ He added, ‘I wish Michael a long, relaxing (and well deserved) retirement and whatever ventures Barbara goes on to do, I know they will be spectacular and I hope I can be part of them.’
Michael G. Wilson, 87, announced that he’s retiring after nearly 60 years of working in the Bond films. He said, ‘With my 007 career spanning nearly 60 incredible years, I am stepping back from producing the James Bond films to focus on art and charitable projects.’
Barbara Broccoli, 64, plans to shift her focus to other projects but will remain active in the industry.
She said, ‘My life has been dedicated to maintaining and building upon the extraordinary legacy that was handed to Michael and me by our father, producer Cubby Broccoli. I have had the honor of working closely with four of the tremendously talented actors who have played 007 and thousands of wonderful artists within the industry.’
The producers have worked out a deal with Amazon MGM, allowing Amazon to gain creative control of the franchise moving forward. Although Wilson and Broccoli will remain co-owners, Amazon will take the lead in future Bond films. This comes after Amazon acquired MGM in 2021, making them part owners of the Bond rights but giving them little control over the creative side.
Craig’s final Bond film, No Time to Die, was released in 2021, and since then, rumors have circulated about the future of the franchise. But nothing concrete has been announced.
