Rumors Once Again Confirm ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 4 Not Happening

Jon Favreau, the creator of The Mandalorian, revealed that the script for Season 4 was completed before Season 3 even ended. However, it now seems that the fourth season may not happen at all.

Season 3 wrapped up with Moff Gideon seemingly defeated and Mando officially adopting Grogu, bringing a sense of closure. This peaceful resolution suggests that a new, compelling threat would be necessary to justify a fourth season.

Following the resolution of the SAG-AFTRA and writers’ strikes, rumors began circulating that The Mandalorian Season 4 might be scrapped entirely in favor of a movie. These rumors gained traction after reports emerged that Pedro Pascal would not physically return for the series due to scheduling conflicts with The Last of Us Season 2 and the Gladiator sequel, limiting his involvement to voiceover work for Mando.

Those rumors were confirmed several months ago with the announcement that a Mandalorian & Grogu movie was in development. Officially announced in January 2024, the film began production in California in August 2024.

So, what’s the fate of The Mandalorian Season 4? According to reputable industry insider Daniel Richtman, the fourth season isn’t happening at all.

As I’ve mentioned before, rumors about the show’s cancellation have been circulating for at least a year up to this point. 9 months ago, Brendan Wayne—who serves as the physical double for Din Djarin in The Mandalorian while Pedro Pascal provides the voice—stated on The Chatooine Show on YouTube that there are currently no plans for a fourth season.

He mentioned that Lucasfilm and Disney are now focusing on a feature film.

No [Season 4]. I know that we’re doing a movie for sure, that’s what I know.

Nothing has been confirmed by Lucasfilm or Disney, but based on everything, the situation doesn’t look good at all.
