Australian Neo-Western ‘Territory’ Canceled After One Season on Netflix

Despite hitting big on Netflix in its first month, the Australian neo-Western Territory will not be coming back for a second season. The show, which premiered in October 2024, gained traction quickly, climbing to No. 2 on the Global Top 10 TV shows in just a week and reaching the top spot in 11 countries, including Australia.
But despite its early success, the streaming giant has decided not to renew it, confirming that there will be no follow-up to the cliffhanger-filled season.
The series, set on Marianne Station, the world’s largest cattle station, follows the Lawson family as they battle over succession after a suspicious death. Starring Anna Torv, Michael Dorman, Robert Taylor, and Sam Corlett, it was created by Ben Davies and Timothy Lee, with Greg McLean directing.
Although it received praise, Netflix has made the decision not to continue the story, possibly due to scheduling and production timing issues, though no official reason was given.
While the cast and crew were hopeful for a renewal, they were informed weeks ago that there would be no second season. Que Min Luu, Netflix’s director of content for Australia and New Zealand, expressed appreciation for the team’s work and hinted at future collaborations but confirmed the show’s cancellation.
