Al Pacino Joins Gus Van Sant’s Upcoming Hostage Thriller, ‘Dead Man’s Wire’

Al Pacino has signed on for a role in the upcoming thriller Dead Man’s Wire, directed by Gus Van Sant, an Academy Award nominee. The film is based on the real-life 1977 hostage situation involving Tony Kiritsis.
The story follows Kiritsis, who took the president of a mortgage company, Richard O. Hall, hostage, rigging a shotgun to a ‘dead man’s wire’ attached to his own neck.
Kiritsis demanded $5 million, no prosecution, and an apology for being cheated out of money. The standoff became a major media event at the time.
Joining Pacino in the film are Bill Skarsgård, Dacre Montgomery, Cary Elwes, Myha’la, and Colman Domingo. Austin Kolodney wrote the screenplay for the film.
This will be Pacino’s first collaboration with Van Sant. Recently, Pacino starred in Knox Goes Away, and upcoming films include The Ritual, Killing Castro, Hand of Dante, Billy Knight, and Easy Waltz.
