Apple Confirms Premiere for Bono Vox Documentary ‘Bono: Stories Of Surrender’

Apple Original Films has finished production on Bono: Stories of Surrender, a documentary about U2’s Bono. The film is based on his bestselling memoir Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story and directed by Andrew Dominik, known for The Assassination of Jesse James.
It captures Bono’s one-man show of the same name, giving a glimpse into his life, including his role as a father, son, husband, rock star, and activist.
The film will launch on Apple TV+ on May 30. On the same day, it will also be available in an immersive version for the Apple Vision Pro. This 8K, Spatial Audio experience offers 180-degree video that puts viewers right on stage with Bono.
This is the first full-length feature in Apple’s Immersive Video format. The technology aims to bring viewers closer to Bono’s journey, with a unique visual and auditory experience that Apple says aligns with Bono’s innovative spirit.
In addition to the film, a new paperback edition of Stories of Surrender will also be released. This version is updated to match the one-man show’s structure and includes a new introduction by Bono.
The documentary showcases previously unseen footage from Bono’s performances at the Beacon Theatre, featuring some of U2’s most iconic songs. Bono reflects on his life, touching on personal stories from his relationships with friends and family and his work as a global activist.
The film is produced by Jon Kamen and Dave Sirulnick from RadicalMedia, alongside Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner of Plan B Entertainment. Bono himself serves as an executive producer with Jennifer Pitcher and Kelly McNamara.
For Apple, this documentary represents one of their highest-profile releases, joining other notable projects about figures like Selena Gomez and Michael J. Fox. It’s also a key step for Apple Vision Pro, as they look to build original immersive content.
