The marriage between Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas has long been a subject of fascination. They first crossed paths at a film festival in Deauville, France, back in 1998, when he was 53 and she was 28. They tied the knot in 2000, and despite initial skepticism regarding their age difference, they celebrated 25 years of marriage last year.

Their journey hasn’t been without its challenges. The couple briefly separated in August 2013 but reconciled a year later. They share two children, Dylan and Carys. Recently, Douglas shared his perspective in a memoir titled ‘One Helluva Ride’, which was published on October 6.

Just two days after the memoir’s release, Zeta-Jones was seen in New York on Thursday, October 8, marking her first public appearance since the book hit the shelves. The 57-year-old actress was stylishly dressed in a sheer black knit top, glossy leather leggings, and pointed black heels, accessorizing with sunglasses and a black quilted handbag. She appeared relaxed and unfazed by the revelations in her husband’s tell-all.

This outing coincided with a busy promotional schedule for her new series ‘Kill Jackie’. On the same day, she made an appearance on ‘Today’, where host Willie Geist, who had interviewed Douglas the previous day, inquired about the memoir.

Zeta-Jones mentioned that she hasn’t yet read the memoir. While she loves her husband, she shared on ‘Today’ that when she’s tired at night, she has “no intention of reading about him.” However, she encouraged others to check it out.

She also highlighted her packed schedule, having just completed filming for season 3 of ‘Wednesday’ in Dublin. Following that, she flew to London for ‘Kill Jackie’ promotions and then headed to Bilbao, Spain. She playfully suggested that fans should hold onto their cowboy hats when they read the memoir.

Geist revealed that Douglas had acknowledged that his wife hadn’t read the book. When he noted that Douglas was nervous about her reaction, Zeta-Jones laughed, indicating she was in a good mood.

Later on ‘The View’, she softened her stance, saying she might read it after all. Co-host Ana Navarro shared that a chapter about the couple’s first meeting brought her to tears, prompting Zeta-Jones to joke that perhaps she should read it when she gets home. Earlier in the week, she had also told Page Six that she was in the process of reading it.

The memoir offers an unfiltered look at Douglas’ life, including his past relationships before Zeta-Jones. He discusses affairs with Kathleen Turner and Jeanne Tripplehorn during his first marriage to Diandra Luker, revealing that he was involved with five other women in different cities when he first met Zeta-Jones.

Douglas recounts how Zeta-Jones made it clear she would only engage in a monogamous relationship. He notes that there was no physical relationship between them for the first nine months, during which he called each of the other women to end things. Zeta-Jones has confirmed one romantic detail from the book: that Douglas told her during their first meeting that he would one day be the father of her children.

‘One Helluva Ride’ chronicles Douglas’ life journey, from being Kirk Douglas’ son to navigating six decades in Hollywood. It also touches on his struggles with drug use, rehab, and his battle with stage IV cancer. The publisher added 80 never-before-seen photos at the last moment, and the book underwent extensive legal vetting in both the U.S. and England.

Douglas told The Sunday Times that Zeta-Jones did not receive early access to the manuscript, which explains her lighthearted reaction on ‘Today’ and adds a humorous touch to a book filled with candid revelations.

For now, Zeta-Jones seems to be taking the situation in stride, maintaining a sense of humor while promoting her own projects. Regardless of when she finishes the memoir, her recent appearance in New York suggests that the couple’s public image remains as strong as ever.
