Discover the New Viral Viewing Order for ‘Twilight’ That Fans Are Loving
The ‘Twilight‘ saga has a unique way of resurfacing every fall. Over a decade since the franchise concluded, fans continue their annual journey to Forks, Washington, for a complete marathon of the vampire romance inspired by Stephenie Meyer’s novels.
This year, the timing feels particularly fitting. Netflix US added all five films to its library on October 1, just as the spooky season begins. Traditionally, the movies have been viewed in release order: ‘Twilight’, ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’, ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’, followed by ‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1’ and ‘Part 2’. Guides have long maintained that release order is the only correct method, as it aligns with the story’s progression.
However, a new viewing order gaining traction on TikTok offers a fresh perspective on the saga. Instead of following the chronological sequence, fans are starting with ‘New Moon’, then ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 1’, followed by ‘Twilight’, ‘Eclipse’, and concluding with ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 2’. One video outlining this sequence has garnered over 7,700 likes, with many creators sharing their interpretations in recent weeks.
The reasoning behind this new order is surprisingly coherent. The marathon kicks off with ‘New Moon’, which culminates in a proposal, seamlessly leading into ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 1’, featuring a wedding, pregnancy, and Bella’s transformation into a vampire.
From that point, the narrative shifts back in time. ‘Twilight’ serves as a glimpse into Bella’s life before becoming a vampire, almost as if viewers are experiencing her memories. Since this film introduces the Victoria storyline, ‘Eclipse’ follows to complete that arc, incorporating more flashbacks along the way.
The marathon wraps up in the present with ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 2’, where Bella adapts to her new life as a vampire, and the Cullens unite wolves and other vampires to protect Renesmee. By this point, fans feel the story has returned to real-time.
This reordering plays into the narrative style of the series. The ‘Twilight’ novels are primarily narrated from Bella’s perspective, making the idea of watching the films as her recollections feel organic. Additionally, the split of the final book, ‘Breaking Dawn’, into two films provides a convenient opportunity to insert two earlier movies in between.
This setup also aligns with the unfolding of Victoria’s storyline, which begins after Edward kills her partner James in the first film, creating a neat pairing of ‘Twilight’ and ‘Eclipse’ in the new order. Viewed this way, the flashback structure transforms the rewatch into a distinct experience.
Not everyone is on board with this new approach, however. Other creators have shared their own versions, including a straightforward release-order marathon and personal rankings of their favorite films. Traditionalists may argue that the original order was crafted to ensure each film builds on its predecessor.

This trend arrives at an opportune moment. Peacock hosted the saga until the end of September, after which it transitioned to Netflix on October 1. According to one streaming guide, a 2025 theatrical rerelease and the 20th anniversary of the novels have also sparked renewed interest in the franchise.
Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson portray Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, with their chemistry remaining the heart of the saga. For longtime fans, experimenting with a new order offers a chance to view familiar scenes from a different angle. For newcomers, it might just be the most unexpected way to meet the Cullens.
