Disney Characters That Start With G: Iconic Names
Let’s take a look at all those iconic Disney characters that have names starting with ‘G’. From Gamma to the Genie to Gypsy, how many do you know?
1. Gabby Gabby (Toy Story 4)
A vintage doll from Second Chance Antiques, she wants to be owned by Honey but defects in her pull string voice mean no one ever wanted her.
An anti-hero more than a villain, Gabby accepts a chance to reform (much like Sid), eventually getting adopted by a different girl.
2. Gaetan Moliere (Atlantis)
Supervisor of excavations and also having handy skills due to his mineralogy background, he is a vital cog on the expedition to find Atlantis.
His ability to identify various soils really sets him apart from others with similar skill sets. As part of his subterranean habits, he is very sensitive to light and only seems to eat food that comes from the ground, particularly if it has roots or burrows down.
3. Gamma (Up)
Part of the pairing with Beta and led by Alpha, they’re major supporting characters. Gamma is a bulldog that through the use of a special collar, they can speak and be understood.
After meeting up with Carl Fredricksen, who ends up being a massive fan of their master Charles Muntz, Gamma shows his flying skills by piloting a biplane.
However, he does suffer from the usual foibles of being a dog, such as being distracted by squirrels.
4. Gantu (Lilo and Stitch)
Originally the main villain, Gantu has the rank of captain and is a muscular alien that has a passing resemblance to a shark.
Standing at over 20 feet tall, he attempts to pass himself off as a Samoan and is named ‘Big Dummy’ by Lilo.
As part of the Galactic Armada, he obeys the chain of command and tries to carry out his orders to the absolute black letter, but sometimes his envy, jealousy, and greed get in the way.
5. Gaston LeGume (Beauty and the Beast)
A hunter determined to wed Belle, his single mindedness turns to fury once he discovers that Belle has fallen for the Beast.
A French nobleman and town hero, Gaston was actually not in the original fairytale and is a Disney creation, mainly to introduce a stronger villain or antagonist into the production.
Physically handsome but with an overbearing, ugly personality, Gaston was designed to be an ugly version of the Prince Charming.
6. Gazelle (Zootopia)
A predator rights activist and famous singer in the Zootopia universe, she believes in equality, justice and acceptance across all animals.
A model for Preyda, she’s often seen in Vanity Fur along with her entourage, which is entirely made of predators such as tigers. Although trying to help smooth over relations, she is not always successful.
However, upon the release of Bellwether’s recorded confession to the ZPD, she decides to hold a concert to really bring harmony back to Zootopia.
7. Gene (Wreck-it Ralph)
The short, very square leader of the Nicelanders, he’s a big fan of Felix and despises Ralph who goes through and destroys everything.
Being friendly but mainly known for his exceptional party planning abilities, he turns nasty whenever he has to have any link to Ralph.
8. Genie (Aladdin)
A classical Djinn, the Genie can do a variety of powerful spells, extending to granting wishes, perform shape shifting feats and also is not limited by standard space and time constraints.
The Genie is, however, quite limited by the fact that he has to stay contained in a vessel and must follow his Master’s commands, which does limit the amount of times he can fully showcase his magical powers.
Genie is also not shy of flexing his comedic chops, being a form of comic relief throughout the film.
9. Georgette (Oliver and Company)
A prize-winning pedigree poodle, she is very antagonistic towards Oliver and not only because he’s a cat. Owned by the Foxworth family and heavily spoiled, she however goes through a big personality choice after her kidnapping.
Unable to see the real situation even in the most pressing of emergencies, Georgette complains about everything even when she really needs to knuckle down.
10. Gepetto (Pinocchio)
A woodcarver who created Pinocchio, his wish for a son is brought to fruition by the Blue Fairy. Living with his cat Figaro and goldfish Cleo, Gepetto spends most of his life selflessly helping others and is well-respected.
Gepetto seems relatively unfazed by the sudden appearance of a sentient marionette, and helps Pinocchio prepare for life in the human world, such as preparing him for school.
11. Gerald (Finding Dory)
His bushy eyebrows and green bucket make him one of the more iconic characters in Finding Dory. Although very keen to be friendly with Fluke and Rudder, they instead don’t want him on their rock and bark at him constantly.
Eventually he gets onto the rock when Fluke and Rudder fall asleep.
12. Gerda (Frozen)
A servant for Arendelle’s royal family, she oversees the castle household and does everything Gerda says.
She also plays a big role in helping Elsa once she becomes the queen of Arendelle, as well as helping out Olaf, Hans and Kristoff.
13. Gideon (Pinocchio)
A mute cat who dresses up in a raggedy yellow overcoat and purple undershirt, Gideon is the sidekick of Honest John but spends most of his time being drunk and useless.
They run into Pinocchio and immediately try to swindle and con him, having no remorse for their victims at all.
Gideon takes on the pantomime sidekick like Dopey from Snow White.
14. Gideon Grey (Zootopia)
While bullying Judy while younger, Gideon is put in his place by the aspiring cop Judy with a swift kick to the face.
However, this youthful indiscretion seems to wear off, and years later Gideon arrives at the Hopps family farm revealing that he has become a successful pastry chef in the interim.
Gideon shows remorse and apologies to Judy, who accepts the apology. Gideon then provides the key piece to understanding the strange happenings in Zootopia by mentioning the Night Howlers.
15. Giggle McDimples (Toy Story 4)
A plastic figurine who is the head of search and rescue for Pet Patrol, when around the other toys she is Bo Peep’s friend and confidante.
Part of the original mission to find and save Forky, Giggle makes several appearances, as well as coming to Second Chances Antiques.
16. Gilbert Huph (The Incredibles)
Bob Parr’s supervisor at Insuricare, he’s the typical bureaucrat who is not willing to bend the rules and the rules must be followed.
Bob eventually loses his cool with suburban life and takes his frustration out on Bob by throwing him through several office walls.
Like all good insurance executives, he’s not keen on anyone finding out about any loopholes.
17. Gill (Finding Nemo)
Leader of the Tank Gang in Philip Sherman’s dentist office, he is wise but is not happy with having been removed from the ocean to be in a fish tank. He is a distinctive-looking moorish idol fish.
Several failed escape attempts damped this spirit even more, let alone the physical scars he’s got from landing on Philip’s dentist tools.
Gill empathizes with Nemo’s plight and tries to save him from Darla, despite initially his selfishness to escape putting Nemo in danger.
18. Giulia Marcovaldo (Luca)
A supporting character to Luca and Alberto, she befriends them and tries to help them win the Portorosso Cup from the local village bully.
Her penchant for pasta led to her getting christened Spewlia after she threw up her lunch during the previous years’ race.
19. Go Go Tomago (Big Hero 6)
An adrenaline junkie who is very skilled in industrial design, she’s a member of Big Hero 6 and roommates with Honey Lemon.
Known for reaching impossible speeds on her bike, she also has a softer side that involves contemplation in the forest. She is stoic and a woman of a few words, but often has the bright ideas to push her projects forward.
20. Michael ‘Goob’ Yagoobian (Meet the Robinsons)
A social outcast and recluse, Goob has been out of the world’s eye for over three decades after his time in an orphanage.
An immature attitude coupled with a very low educational attainment means he still comes across as a very young child.
His inability to let go of past failures and grow up shows a side of Lewis that could’ve happened had the timeline with Doris and Lewis worked out differently.
21. Goofy (Mickey’s Revue)
An anthropomorphic dog hailing from the southern United States with his signature southern drawl, Goofy lives up to his namesake. Often the comic relief, he is best friends with both Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.
With a casual and laid back attitude, Goofy quickly became a fan favorite, with his trademark clumsiness, he is also a caring father of Max Goof.
22. Gopher (Winnie the Pooh)
Originally created to replace Piglet, he is another down to Earth character with a grass-roots image. Due to his large buck teeth, he tends to whistle certain sounds, especially those that contain an ‘s’.
Gopher doesn’t have time to do much apart from tend to the extensive burrows and mineshafts that he has built. He’ll often be asked to help out with various activities, especially when characters get stuck in a narrow passage.
He also has a habit of falling down his own holes.
23. Officer Gore (Onward)
A satyr cop replete with signature ram horns, she works with the cyclops cop Specter.
She spends most of her appearances dealing with Barley and Ian, normally catching them for speeding.
24. Mother Gothel (Tangled)
Benefiting from the magic, golden flower to stay forever young, when the flower’s powers were transferred to the hair of Rapunzel, Mother Gothel’s solution was to lock Rapunzel away in a secluded tower after kidnapping her.
Instead of owning up to this horrible act, Mother Gothel instead pretends to be Rapunzel’s mother and guardian, saving her from the ‘horrible world’ outside.
Her manipulative streak is on show almost at all times, and she’ll quite happily turn anyone against anyone else if it means she gets an advantage, such as when she used the Stabbington Brothers to carry out revenge on Flynn Rider.
25. Grace (Home on the Range)
One of the cows owned by Pearl on the Little Patch of Heaven farm, Grace is often having to be the mediator between parties due to her calming and level headed approach.
The arrival of Maggie, a very arrogant show cow, sees Pearl needing to take a greater role in managing the farm.
Needing to raise money to stop the farm being auctioned off, all the cows join forces to capture Alameda Slim but quickly find out how he is doing the cattle rustling: by entrancing the cows with his yodels.
Thankfully, Grace is tone deaf and so is unaffected, allowing Grace to mastermind the capturing of the cattle rustler Slim.
26. Grandmother Willow (Pocahontas)
A talking tree, she gives timely advice to Pocahontas. Further to this, Grandmother Willow has been helping Pocahontas’ ancestors with spiritual guidance for generations.
Grandmother Willow can see into the feature, but the visions are not always clear, such as when she talks about seeing Pocahontas’ path being like a spinning arrow. However, in a bid to see what she means by this, Pocahontas scales the tree only to see the incoming sails.
Grandmother Willow is also willing to give her advice to others, such as when she counsels and convinces John Smith to meet Pocahontas’ father.
27. Grand Pabbie (Frozen)
The Troll King who rules over the Valley of the Living Rock, he has the ability to morph into rocks to hide from enemies as well as having an amazing ability to heal others.
This healing power extends to healing damage caused by magic, which is useful for reversing some damage caused by Elsa.
His powers also include a weak form of mind control as well as use the Aurora Borealis to bring up certain vivid images.
28. Grecklin (Onward)
A side character who runs a pawnshop, she comes into the Curse Crusher, an enchanted sword that she tries to sell for a huge markup.
This plan doesn’t work too well when Corey uses his paralyzing stinger tail to incapacitate Grecklin, although they do leave a fair price for it so it’s not exactly stealing.
29. Grem (Cars 2)
An ancient AMC Gremlin that has seen better days, he is the right hand man of Professor Z and spends his days trying to take down the World Grand Prix alongside Acer. Grem has also shown that he’s not below sabotaging the other vehicles, if that works.
After killing some cars and failing to fully end the event, he is eventually arrested in London.
30. Grimsby (The Little Mermaid)
Chancellor of Prince Eric, he is highly skeptical of the existence of merpeople but very supportive of Prince Eric, hoping he will get married soon.
While not immediately being overly impressed with Ariel, Grimsby sees how Prince Eric has fallen for her, and does his best to ensure that Prince Eric is happy, even after Ursula tries to spoil the fun.
31. Grumpy (Snow White)
His name says it all, Grumpy is never happy and always has a scowl on. However, he actually can be very kind when the situation calls for it.
32. Gypsy (A Bug’s Life)
Manny’s lovely assistant in P T Flea’s Circus, she mistakenly believes Flik is a talent scout and unwittingly signs up to help get rid of the grasshoppers.
