Electronic Arts (EA) has often been criticized for its lukewarm support of Nintendo’s consoles. Many of us felt let down by the lack of titles like Madden on the original Switch. Now, with the Switch 2 on the horizon, EA’s CEO, Andrew Wilson, suggests that this new console could be a game-changer for the company.

Wilson believes that new consoles provide a chance to reach more players. He points out that EA’s franchises have done well on Nintendo systems before. He mentions that games like EA Sports FC and Madden could gain momentum on the Switch 2.

He also highlights the success of The Sims and the MySims: Cozy Bundle, noting that half of the players were new to EA. This, he says, shows the potential for EA to attract new players with the Switch 2.

However, it’s worth noting that EA was slow to bring many titles to the original Switch. Games like Apex Legends and It Takes Two eventually made it, but Madden never did. Wilson had previously mentioned that players preferred these franchises on other platforms.

With the Switch 2’s announcement, EA seems optimistic about its potential. Wilson emphasizes that new consoles open doors to new players and communities, and EA has the games to benefit from this.

As we look forward to the Switch 2’s full reveal in April, many of us hope that EA will fully commit to supporting the platform. The question remains: will EA seize this opportunity, or will it be another missed chance?
