Emma Knight’s Coming-of-Age Bestseller to Become an Amazon TV Series

Emma Knight’s bestselling novel, The Life Cycle of the Common Octopus, is being turned into a TV series by Amazon’s MGM Television. The book, which hit the New York Times Bestseller list, tells the story of Pen, a young woman starting her first term at the University of Edinburgh.
She soon discovers that her divorced parents are keeping a secret from her, and she believes the answers might lie in Scotland, where an old friend of her father’s, Lord Lennox, now lives.
When Pen visits Lord Lennox’s grand estate, she gets tangled in the complicated lives of his fascinating family. As she uncovers the truth behind her parents’ secret, Pen also experiences her first love.
The series will be produced by Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, and Jordan Edelstein through Escape Artists, which has a deal with MGM Television. Stacy Rukeyser, known for Sex/Life and Unreal, will serve as the showrunner and executive producer.
The Life Cycle of the Common Octopus was released on January 7, and it quickly gained attention, becoming a pick for the A Read With Jenna Book Club and Barnes & Noble’s Pick of the Month.
