Final Fantasy 16 on Xbox Might Be Closer Than We Think
We’ve been hearing whispers that Square Enix might be gearing up to launch Final Fantasy 16 on Xbox Series X/S this spring. This buzz comes from leaker NateTheHate, who mentioned on ResetEra that an announcement could be on the horizon, with a release planned for the “mid-first half” of the year. Interestingly, there’s talk that this reveal might happen alongside news about Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth coming to other platforms.
Currently, Final Fantasy 16 is available on PS5 and PC. Square Enix has hinted before that the game would eventually make its way to Xbox Series X/S. If these rumors hold true, we might see the game on Xbox sooner rather than later.
On the flip side, it seems that a version for the Nintendo Switch 2 isn’t in the cards right now. According to NateTheHate, Square Enix is focusing on bringing Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth to the Switch 2 first, leaving Final Fantasy 16 out of the immediate plans for that platform.
In the past, mainline Final Fantasy games were often tied to a single platform. But times have changed. With Final Fantasy 16 already on PC and potentially heading to Xbox, it’s clear that Square Enix is broadening its horizons. This move could open the game up to a whole new group of players who haven’t had the chance to experience it yet.
While we wait for official word from Square Enix, it’s hard not to get excited about the possibility of diving into Final Fantasy 16 on Xbox. If the rumors are true, we won’t have to wait much longer to see how the game performs on Microsoft’s latest consoles.
In the meantime, it’s worth noting that Square Enix has been making moves to bring more of its titles to Xbox. For instance, Final Fantasy 14 is set to launch on Xbox Series X/S on March 21st. This could be a sign of more collaborations between Square Enix and Microsoft in the future.
As always, until we hear something official, it’s best to take these rumors with a grain of salt. But the thought of playing Final Fantasy 16 on Xbox is certainly an exciting one. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that Square Enix makes an announcement soon.
