It’s rare that a movie becomes an instant classic, but if there’s one production that falls squarely in that camp, it’s The Hangover. The comedy, released in 2009 and starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Zach Galifianakis, won rave reviews from both audiences and critics and spawned two sequels (although the less said about them, the better).

It wasn’t just the zany antics and famous cameos that enamored cinema-goers. The general look and feel of the movie did, too, and that’s in large part thanks to the movie’s Las Vegas setting. Unlike other movies, this made having your own “The Hangover” experience a realistic aim. In this blog, we’ll look at some handy tips that’ll ensure you can have a similar (but hopefully not quite the same) experience as The Hangover gang on your own trip to Las Vegas.

Gather the Wolf Pack

You’ll need to gather your own motley crew for this one. The beauty of The Hangover’s “Wolf Park” was that they weren’t all close friends. Well, most of them were, but Alan was a leftfield curveball that the gang initially did not love, but let’s be honest, what would the trip have looked like without him? So for this trip, it might be worthwhile looking beyond your usual gang of core friends and inviting one or two second-tier acquaintances. It’ll give the trip a fresh dimension, and who knows what it could lead to?

Book Somewhere Luxurious

There are times when staying in budget-friendly, barebones accommodation is the right way to go. But a trip to Las Vegas is not one of them. An interesting quirk about Sin City is that you can often get luxury accommodations for below-average prices since hotels in Las Vegas are generally cheaper than in other cities. Of course, if you have some extra money to spend, then you could always pool your money together and stay in a top suite at Caesar’s Palace, just like the guys in The Hangover did.

Enjoy the Sin City Highlights

As we mentioned above, the Las Vegas setting contributed massively to the overall feel of The Hangover. And it’s easy to understand why — it is, after all, one of the most fun tourist destinations on the planet. While you and your friends, be sure to enjoy all that the city has to offer. If you want to play at the casinos like Alan did while you’re there, then be sure to use an introductory blackjack deal to practice some skills before your trip. That way, you’ll be able to sit down at the table with confidence.

There are plenty of other fun things to do in Las Vegas, too. For example, you and your friends could see one of the world-famous shows, eat a world-class dinner, or even take a trip out to see the unmatchable Grand Canyon National Park.

Go Celebrity-Spotting

Are you going to see Mike Tyson in Las Vegas, just like the boys did in The Hangover? Probably not, unless he announces another return to boxing and happens to be fighting at the MGM Grand Garden Area. Still, even if you don’t see the former heavyweight of the world, you could still spot a celebrity or two. After all, the rich and famous love spending time in Las Vegas just like everyone else. If you’ve got your heart set on meeting a performer who has a residency in Vegas, then look at hanging around the entrance a few hours before showtime — you might not get a story quite as wild as the Mike Tyson in The Hangover, but you could get their autograph!

Bring Your Fun Side

Finally, remember to bring your energy, enthusiasm, and fun side to your trip to Las Vegas. All going well, you’ll have a trip with your nearest and dearest friends that lives long in the memory (and for all the right reasons, unlike in the movie). And we’re confident that you’ll have one or two sequel trips to the city, too!
