Hunter Schafer Dazzles in Color-Blocked Styles for ‘Blade Runner 2099’ Press Tour
Few stars approach a press tour like a fashion project, but Hunter Schafer has seamlessly integrated it into her performance. As a former model with a keen editorial eye, she has been showcasing her unique style for the upcoming sci-fi series.
The latest evidence of her fashion prowess is a striking press photo that has fans buzzing, fitting perfectly into a styling narrative that has been evolving since summer.
Schafer stars in Prime Video’s ‘Blade Runner 2099‘ alongside Michelle Yeoh. She portrays Cora, a human fugitive who assumes one last identity as a Blade Runner, teaming up with Olwen, a replicant on the brink of death.
The limited series is set to premiere on Prime Video on November 25, and each public appearance has transformed into a fashion statement. Her stylist, Dara Allen, has embraced a retro-futuristic aesthetic that aligns beautifully with the franchise.

In the new press photo, Schafer poses against a weathered, textured backdrop, her long strawberry-blonde hair cascading past her shoulders. She sports a bandeau top featuring teal and black stripes, paired with a vivid red pencil skirt adorned with black brushstroke-style prints.

Black sculptural heeled mules complete the ensemble. The color palette is vibrant and graphic, with the red and teal contrasting sharply for a striking color-blocked effect.
This bold approach resonates with the show’s themes. Schafer has consistently opted for bright, high-contrast color combinations, reflecting the pop, supersaturated visuals characteristic of the ‘Blade Runner’ films.

The styling journey began at San Diego Comic-Con, where Prime Video showcased the series in Hall H on July 24. Schafer donned a look directly from the Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2027 runway, featuring a sheer yellow organza shirt over a red bodysuit, sheer shorts cinched with a chunky chain belt, and bright tights.

The yellow shirt paid tribute to the transparent yellow raincoat worn by the virtual companion Joi in ‘Blade Runner 2049’. Fashion critics noted that the translucent textures and plastic-like finish lent the outfit a retro-futuristic vibe. Yeoh also wore Schiaparelli to the same panel.
Schafer reportedly changed into several other looks that weekend, including an archive Jil Sander piece and a Prada outfit from 2018. One fashion site described the sequence as a not-so-casual fashion-geek flex, while another expressed curiosity about the evolution of her styling choices.
Schafer and Yeoh brought the show to New York Comic Con on Saturday, October 10. They were joined by Dimitri Abold, Lewis Gribben, Matthew Needham, showrunner Silka Luisa, and executive producers Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.
Prime Video unveiled a new trailer, key art, and four never-before-seen clips. The trailer delves deeper into the central mystery and the complex partnership between Cora and Olwen.
Set 50 years after the events of ‘Blade Runner 2049’, the series unfolds in a Los Angeles that has been reborn, albeit not by humanity. Replicants have become the dominant force, and the trailer hints at a war that occurred sometime after the last film.

Schafer’s fashion choices reflect the world-building of the ‘Blade Runner’ universe, which has long been characterized by neon colors, translucent layers, and exaggerated silhouettes. Her looks resonate with these themes without directly replicating the costumes.
With her fashion background, having walked runways for designers like Marc Jacobs, she confidently showcases runway pieces as intended.
This intentionality gives each appearance a distinct message. Rather than opting for a generic red carpet gown, every outfit seems to convey something significant about the project.
The series marks a significant moment for the franchise, being the latest installment following ‘Blade Runner’ and ‘Blade Runner 2049’. Ridley Scott serves as an executive producer, with Jonathan van Tulleken of ‘Shōgun’ directing the first two episodes.
All eight episodes will be available on November 25. In the lead-up, expect more promotional content, additional trailers, and undoubtedly more standout looks from Schafer.
