Inde Navarrette has had an extraordinary year, especially following her breakout role in ‘Obsession.’ This horror film, directed by Curry Barker, was produced on a modest budget of $750,000 but went on to earn over $500 million globally, marking it as one of Hollywood’s most profitable productions. Navarrette’s performance as Nikki Freeman has been a standout highlight.

Her rising fame has also made her a fashion icon. She graced the cover of W Magazine and made her front-row debut at the Marc Jacobs Spring 2027 show in a cherry-print denim ensemble. Since then, numerous fashion houses have sought her out.

The Academy Museum Gala on October 17 in Los Angeles provided another platform for her to showcase her style. Navarrette wore a striking spotted strapless gown from Schiaparelli’s fall 2026 couture collection.

In the video from the gala, the gown features a fitted strapless bodice adorned with a leopard-like pattern of dark spots on a warm tan background. The skirt flares out into a dramatic bubble shape before tapering at the hem, where the spots transition into a softer gradient. Reports indicate that the surface is richly embellished with rounded, glossy brown discs, creating a textured, almost three-dimensional appearance.

Navarrette opted for classic styling, pairing the gown with a sparkling diamond necklace and statement drop earrings. Her hair was elegantly pulled back, and her makeup showcased bold brows, lined eyes, and a neutral lip, exuding a blend of Old Hollywood glamour with a playful twist from the exaggerated silhouette.

Her gown certainly made an impact, earning her a spot on WWD’s best-dressed list alongside celebrities like Kate Hudson and A$AP Rocky. Many outlets highlighted her as one of the evening’s standout looks. Despite being just five feet tall, she carried the voluminous gown with remarkable confidence.

Working with stylist Enrique Melendez, Navarrette’s choice to pair a couture bubble skirt with classic pumps and vintage jewelry reflects a keen sense of balance.

Navarrette’s rapid ascent in Hollywood is noteworthy. Prior to ‘Obsession,’ she held mostly minor roles in series like ’13 Reasons Why’ and ‘Superman & Lois.’ The film premiered in the Midnight Madness section of the Toronto International Film Festival in 2025, later being acquired by Focus Features in a deal reportedly exceeding $15 million, backed by Jason Blum’s Blumhouse.

It debuted to $17.2 million at the domestic box office, and her performance has drawn comparisons to Natalie Portman’s iconic role in ‘Léon: The Professional,’ which she cites as an inspiration. Some of her most intense scenes have even become viral memes.

Hollywood is taking notice. Reports indicate she has met with Jake Schreier, the director of the upcoming ‘X-Men’ reboot, and Michael Mann, who is working on ‘Heat 2.’ She has also secured her next project, ‘Invertigo,’ directed by Matthias Hoene.

Navarrette has expressed interest in taking on an action film featuring a small-framed assassin or the live-action adaptation of ‘Fourth Wing.’ With casting directors and fashion brands reaching out, her opportunities are expanding.

Navarrette wasn’t the only talent from ‘Obsession’ at the gala. Director Curry Barker and co-star Michael Johnston also attended, creating a mini reunion of the film’s key creatives.

Their success story has been one of the year’s highlights, and their presence on the red carpet felt like a celebratory moment. Barker returned to TIFF with Navarrette a year after the film’s premiere, remarking that it felt like the anniversary of their lives transforming.

The guest list was star-studded, featuring Taylor Swift, Kate Hudson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kerry Washington, Janelle Monáe, Anna Kendrick, and Brittany Snow, among others.

Amidst the more dramatic looks, Navarrette’s bubble gown stood out for its playful volume, showcasing her confidence as a newcomer to the red carpet.

Her look successfully embraces a bold concept without appearing chaotic. The leopard-like spots add character, the bubble silhouette introduces drama, and her polished hair and jewelry keep the ensemble grounded.

This outfit also reflects her unique fashion identity, blending gamer-girl nostalgia with high-fashion elements. A couture dress that is both whimsical and elegant is precisely the statement a breakout star should make.
