Gwen Stacy continues to be one of the most debated characters in Marvel’s Spider-Man universe, with discussions about who should portray her remaining lively. Mckenna Grace is a name that frequently comes up in this ongoing conversation.

The character has a notable history on screen. Bryce Dallas Howard portrayed her in ‘Spider-Man 3’, while Emma Stone took on the role in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ films. Hailee Steinfeld lends her voice to Gwen in Sony’s ‘Spider-Verse’ series, but the MCU has yet to feature her.

Gwen first appeared in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ #31 back in 1965, and the Spider-Gwen variant was introduced in ‘Edge of Spider-Verse’ #2 in 2014. In this alternate universe, Gwen is bitten by the radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker, a twist that has made her a beloved character among fans.

Recently, Grace addressed the ongoing speculation about her potential casting. In a conversation with Sami Haidary, the star of ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’ expressed her excitement about the fan casting buzz, stating, “Whenever I get fancast for these things, that’s when they tend to happen.”

She described the role as a dream job for any actor, indicating that the idea is appealing to her. Haidary’s post included a plea for Marvel to consider Grace for the role, and the exchange has gained traction across Marvel fan accounts on social media.

Grace has a connection to the Marvel franchise, having portrayed a young Carol Danvers in ‘Captain Marvel’. According to ComicBookMovie.com, she has long been a fan-favorite candidate for the role, with her name consistently surfacing for superhero parts.

The notion of Grace as Gwen has been circulating for years. When The Beat listed its picks for a live-action Spider-Gwen, they described her as smart, quick-witted, and earnest, arguing that Grace possesses the charm to engage an audience. They also suggested Chloë Grace Moretz as an alternative if Grace was deemed too young.

Grace’s remarks come amid a surge of unconfirmed rumors. In mid-September, a Marvel insider claimed she was being considered for a significant role in the MCU, although SuperHeroHype noted that no specific character or project was mentioned. Neither Marvel Studios nor Grace has confirmed anything.

Shortly after, the account MCU Fanatics reported that Grace, Emma Myers, Ester Expósito, and Emily Rudd were all reportedly in contention to portray Gwen Stacy in the MCU. The post emphasized that Marvel has yet to announce any casting decisions. Culturageek also pointed out that there is no confirmation from Marvel or Rudd.

Fans have been quick to share their thoughts. Responses on X show some supporters backing Grace, while others believe either she or Myers would be perfect for the role.

The timing is fitting, as ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ premiered on July 31 to generally positive reviews, with critics praising Tom Holland’s performance, the action scenes, and a more mature, character-driven narrative. With this chapter now released, fans are naturally eager to see which characters Marvel might introduce next.

At just 20 years old, Grace is already an accomplished actress. She made history as the first child to receive a guest acting Emmy nomination for her role in ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’, and she later starred as Phoebe Spengler in ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’ and ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’.

Recently, she appeared in ‘Regretting You’, ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’, and ‘Scream 7’. Currently, she is promoting ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’, with reports indicating she was in Australia for part of that press tour.

For now, Grace’s comments should be viewed as enthusiasm rather than an official announcement. She has not confirmed any role, and no casting for Gwen Stacy has been finalized, but it’s clear the actress would be thrilled to take on the part if given the opportunity.
