‘Ne Zha 2’ Keeps Surpassing Major Box Office Milestones, Has Its Sight Set on ‘Endgame’

After recently overtaking Spider-Man: No Way Home, the Chinese film Ne Zha 2 is now approaching another huge milestone—$2 billion worldwide. As of now, the movie has grossed $1.93 billion, with most of that ($1.9 billion) coming from China.
If it hits $2 billion this weekend, it will also pass big names like Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens and Avengers: Infinity War.
Released during the Chinese New Year, Ne Zha 2 has been breaking records since its debut. With $15 million in domestic earnings, the film is already the highest-grossing animated film ever.
It’s set to become the first non-Hollywood, non-English film to hit the $2 billion mark. The movie’s $80 million budget makes its success all the more impressive.
Not only is Ne Zha 2 the highest-grossing film in China, but it also broke the domestic record previously held by The Force Awakens, which earned $936 million there. Ne Zha 2 even overtook Inside Out 2, pushing it to become the highest-grossing animated movie in history.
China’s movie market has shown tremendous growth. Four of the top five highest-grossing films of 2025 are Chinese, highlighting how strong the industry has become.
Currently, Ne Zha 2 is the seventh biggest film worldwide, just behind Avatar and Avengers: Endgame. It’s still a ways from surpassing Avatar’s record-breaking $2.9 billion, but it’s quickly catching up.
Despite not having an official Rotten Tomatoes score yet, all the reviews on the platform are positive, with a near-perfect 99% audience score. We’ll likely see more updates as it continues to break records.
