Netflix has locked in Jeremy Strong for a new series based on The Boys from Brazil, the chilling novel by Ira Levin. Peter Morgan, known for The Crown, is leading the adaptation alongside producer Suzanne Mackie. This will be Strong’s first big TV role since Succession.

Strong, fresh off an Oscar nomination for playing Roy Cohn in The Apprentice, will take on the role of Lieberman, a determined Nazi hunter. The story follows his dangerous investigation into a sinister plot involving Dr. Josef Mengele, the infamous war criminal.

Mengele is believed to be hiding in Paraguay, carrying out a disturbing plan to revive the Nazi regime through cloning. The character was originally played by Laurence Olivier in the 1978 film, which also starred Gregory Peck.

Netflix has not made any official statements about the project yet, but excitement is already building. The show will be produced in both the U.S. and the UK.

Meanwhile, Strong has been keeping busy. He just wrapped filming Deliver Me From Nowhere, where he plays music manager Jon Landau opposite Jeremy Allen White’s Bruce Springsteen. His performance in The Apprentice—which also features Sebastian Stan as a young Donald Trump—has put him in the awards spotlight.

The themes of The Boys from Brazil remain disturbingly relevant today. Even as time moves forward, the dark legacy of Nazi ideology continues to surface in unexpected ways.

Recent events, including Kanye West’s controversial Super Bowl ad directing people to a website selling swastika-themed clothing, serve as stark reminders that history’s worst chapters are never truly closed.
