Neve Campbell Cast as Magneto’s Daughter Polaris in X-Men ’97 Season 2 Beau DeMayo Confirms
Marvel fans have something big to look forward to! Neve Campbell, known for her iconic roles in the 90s, has just been cast as Polaris, the daughter of Magneto, in X-Men ’97 Season 2.
The news broke on social media after Beau DeMayo, the creator and former head writer of X-Men ’97, confirmed the casting. In response to a post that hinted Campbell might be joining the MCU, DeMayo set the record straight. He said:
“Incorrect. I cast her as Polaris in Season 2 of ‘X-Men ’97.’ She does amazing work bringing something new, and felt right to have a ’90s icon pick up where Lorna’s story was left in ‘Cold Comfort.’ She’s got some thoughts on Genosha.“
This means Campbell will play Polaris in the animated series, not the live-action MCU. It’s still a huge deal since this marks her debut in the comic book universe.
Polaris, also known as Lorna Dane, is a powerful mutant with abilities similar to her father, Magneto. In the comics, she can manipulate magnetism and has often struggled with mental health issues, particularly bipolar disorder. Fans are curious to see how these aspects of her character will be portrayed in the series.
The first season of X-Men ’97 ended with a major twist—Magneto being stranded in the year 3000 BC with Beast, Rogue, and Nightcrawler. They meet En Sabah Nur, better known as Apocalypse, who is one of the X-Men’s biggest foes.
Season 2 is expected to explore the aftermath of this timeline split. The X-Men are divided into two teams, each in different timelines. Polaris might come from one of these alternate timelines or even a whole different universe.
The new season is set to premiere in early 2026. It will continue the story from Season 1, focusing on the X-Men dealing with being split up and facing new threats, including Apocalypse.
