‘Outer Banks’ & ‘Queer’ Star Drew Starkey Joins A-List Cast in Apple TV+ Thriller ‘Lucky’

Netflix’s Outer Banks is gearing up for its fifth and final season, but one of its breakout stars, Drew Starkey, has already lined up his next big project. He’s joining the cast of Apple TV+’s upcoming limited series Lucky, which stars Anya Taylor-Joy and is executive produced by Reese Witherspoon.
The show follows Lucky, played by Taylor-Joy, a woman who walked away from a life of crime but is forced to return for one last job. It’s based on Marissa Stapley’s bestselling novel, which was also a pick for Reese’s Book Club. Starkey will take on a major recurring role as Cary, Lucky’s husband.
The cast is stacked with talent, including Annette Bening, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, and Timothy Olyphant. The show is written by Jonathan Tropper, who also serves as a co-showrunner alongside Cassie Pappas.
Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter are producing through Hello Sunshine, while Taylor-Joy is also on board as an executive producer under her production company, Ladykiller.
Behind the camera, Jonathan Van Tulleken is directing several episodes, including the pilot. The show is coming from Apple Studios, and Tropper is involved through his deal with Apple TV+.
