A new episode of Hollywood Demons, a documentary series on Investigation Discovery, will dive deep into the dark side of the Power Rangers franchise. The episode will be available to watch on Max starting Monday, April 7th at 9 PM EST. In a newly released clip, fans get a first look at the show’s shocking revelations.

The documentary focuses on some of the most troubling moments in the history of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the popular superhero show from the 1990s. In the preview clip, Audri Dubois, who played the original Yellow Ranger in the show’s pilot, talks about her difficult experience with the contract she was given at the start.

We were told that we were to sign a contract, it was like 6 o’clock, 7 o’clock at night, and we were told that we needed to return by the next morning by 7 AM,” Dubois said. “If we were one minute past 7 AM, you were not going to be up for this at all, you will be cut out.

This meant there was very little time to look over the contract or ask a lawyer for advice. Back then, there were no emails or fast ways to share documents, so getting help at night was nearly impossible. Many actors just signed the papers quickly, afraid they would lose the role if they waited.

According to Dubois, “I was naive enough to think ‘okay if I sign this contract then we could talk numbers later, so I signed the contract.

Power Rangers was a non-union show, which meant the people working on it didn’t get the same rights or pay as actors on other union shows.

In the episode, they compare the pay between Power Rangers and other shows at the time. While union actors could earn as much as $50,000 per episode, Ranger actors were only paid $750 for a 30-minute show or $1,125 for a one-hour episode.

The clip ends with a haunting statement about the contracts: they made it “okay to work you to death, and they did.”

The episode doesn’t just talk about contracts. It also explores real-life tragedies involving the cast. One chilling part of the documentary covers a fan who became a gunman and tried to kill one of the show’s biggest stars. That same actor later met a tragic end just a few years after the attack.

The official description for the episode reads:

“Every ‘90s kid remembers Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the ultimate live-action, superhero show. Beneath the bright spandex and high-flying karate kicks lies a grim reality of tragedy and scandals. Viewers will watch never-before-seen footage of a fan-turned-gunman who had one horrifying mission: to assassinate the show’s most legendary star. And just a few years later, the same actor meets a grim fate.”

Fans of the show and anyone interested in the hidden side of Hollywood will want to tune in. Hollywood Demons: Dark Side of the Power Rangers premieres April 7th at 9 PM EST on Max.
