‘Reacher’ Season 4 Episode 8 Finale Recap & Ending Explained: Who Survives ‘Cut’?
‘Reacher‘ has taken viewers on a thrilling journey in its fourth season, evolving from a chance subway encounter into a complex conspiracy filled with government secrets, chemical weapons, and a congressman hiding dark truths. This buildup set the stage for the season finale, titled ‘Cut,’ which had a lot to resolve in just one episode.
The stakes were raised in the penultimate episode, ‘Vote for Sampson,’ where Congressman John Sampson tackled a suspected suicide bomber into the Delaware River just before the device exploded. As ‘Cut’ begins, Reacher and his allies are left in suspense, unsure if Sampson survived and unaware of the whereabouts of the season’s main antagonists, Lila and Amisha.
The finale quickly confirms the grim reality. Early on, it’s revealed that Sampson did not survive the blast, having sacrificed himself to prevent the bomber from unleashing a chemical weapon at his fundraiser. This leaves Reacher at yet another crime scene, now a fugitive alongside Detective Tamara Green and Jacob, with no clues about Lila and Amisha’s next move.
With limited options, the trio considers regrouping at Plum’s apartment, reasoning it’s a safe hideout. However, Reacher suspects Lila and Amisha might have the same idea, leading them back to the restaurant where the women had previously hidden. There, they discover remnants of the operation preparing to deploy the weapon before a dark web auction could occur.
With no time to call for backup, Reacher decides to split the team’s focus. He confronts Lila and Amisha directly while Green and Jacob work to secure the chemical weapon. The fight escalates, culminating in Reacher pushing Amisha out a window, seemingly to her death, and forcing Lila to turn her weapon on herself after she attempts to use it on him.

Meanwhile, Green and Jacob battle through the remaining lab team and race against time to stop one member from releasing the toxin in a crowded nightclub, successfully intercepting him just in time to save countless lives. Just when it seems the threat is neutralized, Reacher exits the building only to find Foster waiting for him, leading to a shocking twist when Amisha, who is revealed to be alive, kills Foster before turning her weapon on Reacher. Jacob and Green arrive just in time to shoot Amisha, and Jacob opts to take her into custody rather than finish her off.
The episode concludes on an unexpectedly positive note for the series. Reacher wakes up in the hospital, recovering from his injuries, surprised to see Green at his side and even more astonished that he isn’t in handcuffs, thanks to Elspeth Sampson’s influence protecting him and the team from legal repercussions.

Reacher hands over the flash drive to Plum, ensuring the full story can be told, giving Elspeth the vindication she seeks regarding her husband’s death. Green is cleared of any wrongdoing and is on her way to a better position within the force, Jacob begins to process his grief, and Elspeth considers a run for office to continue her husband’s legacy. True to form, Reacher wraps up the season as he always does, with new clothes, a fresh cheesesteak, and the open road ahead.
