Tatiana Maslany Believes ‘She-Hulk’ Fans Would Riot If She Returned But Keeps Options Open
Few Marvel characters have experienced a more unusual post-show journey than Jennifer Walters. Since her debut in the 2022 Disney+ series ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law,’ Tatiana Maslany has consistently made headlines with her comments regarding her future in the MCU, none of which have been particularly clear. The Emmy-winning actress has navigated a landscape filled with rumors, jokes, and ambiguous responses that have left fans guessing about whether the green-tinted lawyer will make a comeback on Marvel screens.
In 2024, Maslany hinted during a Twitch stream that a second season was unlikely, stating that the show “blew our budget” and that Disney opted not to continue it. Things became even more confusing when she appeared on a comedy podcast, delivering a satirical monologue that suggested she had personally turned down Disney, a performance so deadpan that it sent parts of the internet into a frenzy. When asked for clarification in a February interview with Entertainment Tonight, her response was playfully vague: “You’ll never know.”
Maslany has now added another layer to the discussion. While promoting her new Apple TV+ series ‘Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed’ on Mike DeAngelo’s Bingeworthy podcast, she was asked whether Jennifer Walters could fit into a large-scale Avengers story or if the character is better suited to her own niche in the universe.
When pressed about the likelihood of a second season or a crossover appearance, she leaned into the self-deprecating humor that made her show so unique. “I don’t know,” she replied. “I think people would be so mad at me being on their screens again.”
However, Maslany did not entirely close the door on a return, emphasizing that any comeback would require careful creative direction. She specifically mentioned series creator Jessica Gao as the ideal person to maintain the character’s essence. “I think it would take somebody like Jessica Gao to weave her into that world because she knows that character so deeply and loves her and gets her tone,” Maslany explained during the podcast.
She further elaborated on the joy of ‘She-Hulk,’ highlighting its “singularness,” the fourth-wall-breaking narration, direct audience engagement, and the satirical legal comedy that set it apart in the Marvel universe.
This perspective underscores a genuine structural challenge. ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ was designed around Jennifer Walters as a lead character rather than an ensemble player, making future appearances in team-up films or crossover series more complicated without compromising what made her character unique.
Marvel Television chief Brad Winderbaum has expressed his admiration for the show and his desire to create more content, describing it as one of the service’s best-performing titles among general audiences, although no new season or specific return plan has been officially announced.
Earlier in 2026, rumors emerged claiming Maslany had been let go from Marvel Studios, a notion she dismissed as “disgusting.” Currently, ‘She-Hulk’ has no confirmed involvement in ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ set for release later this year, or ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ in 2027. Whether Maslany is being self-deprecating, strategic, or genuinely uncertain, she has mastered the art of keeping her MCU future in a state of delightful ambiguity.
