In recent years, movie theater popcorn buckets have carved out a unique niche in film marketing, with studios striving to create the most outrageous and collectible containers for major releases. From Shao Kahn’s helmet in ‘Mortal Kombat II’ to various character-shaped buckets, this trend has evolved into a genuine obsession among fans.

This fall’s live-action adaptation of ‘Street Fighter’ continues that tradition, generating excitement for its faithful representation of Capcom’s iconic fighters. As the film’s release approaches, fans have been eagerly anticipating themed merchandise to accompany its theatrical debut.

Now, that anticipation has been confirmed in a wonderfully specific way. AMC Theatres has officially revealed its exclusive ‘Street Fighter’ popcorn bucket, which is exactly what fans were hoping for: a wearable bucket designed to resemble Guile’s iconic flat-top hairstyle, perfect for sitting atop your head with popcorn filling in where his hair would typically be.

Cody Rhodes, along with the official accounts for Legendary, Paramount, and the ‘Street Fighter’ movie, shared the reveal, describing the bucket with the tagline “Aerodynamic. Ergonomic. Delicious.” This design is not just for display; it functions as a genuine wearable container, reminiscent of the Mortal Kombat II Shao Kahn helmet bucket sold earlier this year at AMC and Regal.

This comparison offers fans a rough idea of the expected price, as the wearable Shao Kahn helmet bucket was previously priced at $42.95 for 85 ounces, while a non-wearable arcade cabinet bucket from the same release cost $34.95. Although AMC has yet to announce the pricing or capacity for the Guile bucket, it is anticipated to fall within a similar range once ordering begins.

The choice to design the bucket this way makes sense, given how central Guile’s hairstyle has become in the film’s early buzz. WWE superstar Cody Rhodes portrays the character, and his game-accurate flat-top look has already garnered significant attention online, marking a departure from Jean-Claude Van Damme’s shorter, gelled hairstyle in the original 1994 ‘Street Fighter’ film.

This attention to detail is evident in earlier footage, including a Game Awards trailer that showcased Guile somersault-kicking Vega through a wall while sporting the same distinctive hairstyle. Transforming that already-memed hair into a wearable popcorn container feels like a natural, albeit delightfully absurd, next step for the film’s marketing team.

While the Guile bucket is confirmed, other rumored merchandise related to the release, such as an arcade cabinet-style bucket and character topper cups, remain unverified. Additional designs, along with any theater-exclusive options from Regal or Cinemark, should become clearer once advance ticket sales officially commence.

Typically, popcorn bucket lineups for major releases launch alongside ticket sales, so fans likely won’t have to wait much longer to see what’s in store for this release.

‘Street Fighter’ is set to hit theaters on October 16, distributed by Paramount Pictures. The film takes place in 1993 and follows estranged fighters Ryu and Ken Masters as they are drawn back into combat when the enigmatic Chun-Li recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament, a conflict that conceals a deadly conspiracy forcing them to confront each other and their pasts.

With game-accurate casting and this thoroughly dedicated popcorn bucket, the marketing team behind ‘Street Fighter’ clearly understands what die-hard fans of the franchise are looking for as the opening weekend approaches.
