There’s something undeniably captivating about witnessing two actors share a heartfelt moment on a superhero set, devoid of costumes and special effects, just two individuals embracing in a snowy landscape.

Recent photos from the set of ‘Supergirl’ have captured this essence perfectly, prompting a wave of affection from fans who are already deeply invested in this new era of DC heroes.

The images, which have gone viral on social media, feature Milly Alcock and David Corenswet sharing a quiet, candid hug between takes at what appears to be a wintery outdoor location. Absent are the spandex suits, capes, and visual effects—just two actors who have quickly become the faces of a revamped DC universe, comfortably standing together on a snow-covered set.

The significance of these images is heightened by the context surrounding them. A recently released featurette for ‘Supergirl’ revealed that Corenswet’s scenes with Alcock were filmed on the very first day of production, setting the tone for the entire project.

Director Craig Gillespie intentionally chose to begin filming with the two Kryptonian cousins sharing the screen, a decision that clearly influenced the film’s overall atmosphere. The snowy backdrop in the new photos aligns perfectly with what Alcock had previously disclosed about one of the film’s most challenging sequences.

In December, Alcock inadvertently shared more than intended during a press conference with GamesRadar+. When asked about the toughest scene she filmed for ‘Supergirl’, she revealed: “Oh my god, it was… It was with Superman. And I wasn’t in the suit, and I was speaking… A different language. A different language. Yeah, that day was really hard, it was, like, 2 degrees. He jumped right in the deep end. Yeah, that was a hard day. The whole scene was in Kryptonian. The whole scene was, yeah… Yeah, Kryptonian.”

This admission confirmed two fan theories that had been circulating: Superman does appear in ‘Supergirl’, and his role is significant enough to be one of the most challenging sequences Alcock faced during filming.

A clip released ahead of the film’s theatrical debut on June 26 has since showcased the scene in question, depicting Kara Zor-El’s arrival on Earth, carrying a young Krypto and speaking no English, while a bewildered Superman greets her, having never learned the language of their home planet. The combination of harsh filming conditions, an invented language, and a pivotal emotional moment makes this sequence one of the most remarkable challenges for both actors.

The warmth between Alcock and Corenswet resonates with fans, especially after their on-screen chemistry became a hot topic following the premiere of ‘Superman’ in summer 2025.

Alcock’s Supergirl made her DCU debut at the end of that film, drunkenly dropping into Kal-El’s Fortress of Solitude and fussing over Krypto the Superdog before making a hasty exit. Even in that brief cameo, the dynamic between the two characters sparked intrigue. The portrayal of a Supergirl who is rougher around the edges, in contrast to her celebrated cousin, was immediately appealing.

James Gunn, co-chief of DC Studios and director of ‘Superman’, has indicated that this version of Kara will be “much more hardcore,” shaped by her experiences witnessing the destruction of Krypton before arriving on Earth, making her a fundamentally different hero than what audiences are accustomed to.

Directed by Craig Gillespie and penned by Ana Nogueira, the film draws inspiration from Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s acclaimed comic run. The cast also features Matthias Schoenaerts as the lead villain Krem of the Yellow Hills, alongside Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and Jason Momoa as Lobo, with a production budget of $170 million.

As ‘Supergirl’ approaches its June 26 release, the cozy set photos of Alcock and Corenswet provide fans with a warm sentiment to hold onto as they eagerly await what promises to be one of the most emotionally charged superhero films in recent memory.
