Frank Spotnitz, known for his work on The X-Files, is back in the sci-fi world. This time, he’s joined a Swedish show called We Come in Peace. Spotnitz will be the writing supervisor and executive producer. The series is a six-part sci-fi drama, and filming wrapped up recently in Sweden.

The production company, Newen Connect, will showcase clips and creative materials to global buyers in London on February 25. Spotnitz and Swedish producer Piodor Gustafsson are expected to attend.

This is Spotnitz’s first non-English-language project and his first sci-fi work since The X-Files, a show that earned him multiple Golden Globes and an Emmy nomination.

The show is set in Stockholm, where a mysterious jellyfish-like object appears in the sky. This sparks panic and fear across the population. Fares Fares, known for Westworld, plays Elias Kazemi, the head of Sweden’s emergency response team. He must deal with rising public fear and foreign interference.

Evin Ahmad stars as Zandra Kraft, a woman who believes she can communicate with the creature. As the creature releases a powerful energy source, other smaller creatures start spreading across Sweden, adopting human DNA.

This creates chaos, and Elias, Zandra, and Prime Minister Moa Holmgren must figure out if these creatures are a threat or humanity’s best hope for survival.

Spotnitz has said he was approached many times for alien-themed shows after The X-Files, but he always turned them down. However, when he read the pilot for We Come in Peace, he was hooked.

He said the show is ‘grounded’ and ‘thought-provoking,’ focusing more on human nature than on the aliens themselves. He explained that the show examines how humans react to the unknown, revealing a lot about us.

We Come in Peace is set to premiere in late 2025, with more details to come.
