When WandaVision was first released, Marvel announced that two spin-offs were in development, one centered on Agatha Harkness and the other on White Vision. Now, several months after the release of Agatha All Along, fans are gearing up for the final chapter in this unofficial trilogy: Vision Quest.

Details about Vision Quest remain scarce, but what we do know is that the series will follow White Vision on his journey after the events of WandaVision and will feature the return of Ultron in some capacity.

Actor Paul Bettany recently revealed that he’s been watching Agatha All Along as part of his preparation for returning to the role, strongly hinting that the two shows are connected in meaningful ways.

Now industry insider Lizzie Hill recently held a Q&A. One of the questions she was asked was regarding Vision’s story in the MCU and the most likely source of inspiration for it.

A fan asked if the upcoming Vision show will be based more on the West Coast Avengers comics or the Tom King comic series. They also wondered how the show will explain it if the character “Tommy” shows up, since Vision doesn’t remember anything from the time he spent in Wanda’s magical world (the Hex).

Hill replied that the show seems to take ideas from both comic stories, but it will mostly be something new and original. It won’t follow a specific comic storyline closely like some past Marvel shows have.

Lizzie Hill: From what we understand, it’s a bit of both, but it’s more original than most of the previous MCU shows, so it won’t follow a direct storyline like some of the rest.

As far as confirmed information goes, as I’ve said, we don’t know much. James Spader, Todd Stashwick, Faran Tahir, and Ruaridh Mollica will star alongside Bettany.

The show was first announced in 2022 and was originally called Vision Quest. It started as a spin-off of WandaVision, with Jac Schaeffer as the main writer. But by May 2024, she was no longer involved. Terry Matalas took over and began reworking the series, with Bettany still confirmed to star.

Filming started in March 2025 at Pinewood Studios in London. Vision Quest will come out on Disney+ in 2026 and will be part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
