Zoë Kravitz has been a prominent figure in New York recently, and her sightings while filming ‘Die Alive’ are the latest evidence that her upcoming project is progressing well. Paparazzi have captured her between takes on the bustling streets, offering fans a glimpse of one of Apple’s most anticipated films.

The film has an intriguing backstory, having sparked a competitive bidding war in May. Major studios and streaming platforms, including Warner Bros., Sony, Universal, Apple, Amazon, and Netflix, vied for the spec script, despite the absence of attached stars. This reflects the high regard in which writer-director Megan Park is held following her work on ‘My Old Ass.’

Ultimately, Apple Original Films secured the rights, and Kravitz was confirmed as the lead in June. New images show her on set in the city, sporting an oversized dark brown coat over a gray top and a pale green satin midi skirt. She completed her look with brown heels, an iced coffee, and her hair styled in a casual updo, all set against a backdrop of autumn leaves.

Megan Park is not only writing but also directing this romantic comedy. The film is being produced by LuckyChap Entertainment, Margot Robbie’s company, in collaboration with Apple Studios and FilmNation. Park previously worked with LuckyChap on ‘My Old Ass,’ which premiered at Sundance and garnered WGA and DGA nominations, establishing her as a filmmaker to watch.

Park has described the film’s tone as reminiscent of classic comedies, likening it to ‘Stepmom’ meets ‘Big Daddy.’ This aligns with earlier reports suggesting it shares elements with those films. Park has noted that her success in the young adult genre was somewhat unexpected, making this project a notable pivot.

While Apple has yet to announce an official plot or release date, some reports hint at a possible release in 2027. Interestingly, the project has been referred to without a title in some announcements, indicating that ‘Die Alive’ might be a working title.

Kravitz will not be alone in this venture. Adèle Exarchopoulos has joined the cast, marking her first lead role in an American studio film, reportedly playing the wife of Kravitz’s character, although this has not been officially confirmed.

Riley Keough has also been seen on set. On October 12, Kravitz and Keough were photographed together between scenes, with Kravitz in a white long-sleeve shirt, black pants, a purple scarf, and Ugg slippers. Keough opted for Ugg boots, creating a stylish matching moment that caught the attention of fashion outlets.

This project comes at a busy time for Kravitz, who made her directorial debut with the thriller ‘Blink Twice’ in 2024. She is also set to star alongside Nicholas Hoult in ‘How to Rob a Bank,’ which is scheduled for release in theaters on November 11. Prior to this, she had guest roles in ‘The Studio’ on Apple TV, continuing her collaboration with the streamer.

This film also signifies a shift from some of her recent projects. Instead of directing or starring in a thriller, she is embracing lighter material with a romantic comedy from a director known for her sensitive, character-driven narratives. This could reveal a different facet of her on-screen persona.

For now, the set photos serve as a reminder of the excitement surrounding the project. With an acclaimed director, a strong cast, and a competitive bidding war behind it, ‘Die Alive’ is generating significant buzz. Fans will have to wait for official updates, but the recent sightings in New York indicate that production is progressing smoothly.
