‘Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord’ Announced: Sam Witwer Returns in Dark New Animated Series

One of Star Wars’ most famous villains is back. Lucasfilm has announced a brand-new animated series called Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord. The show will stream on Disney+ and will come out in 2026.

The announcement was made during the final moments of a special panel at Star Wars Celebration. The panel was celebrating 20 years of Lucasfilm Animation. Lucasfilm CCO Dave Filoni and VP of Animation Athene Portillo were talking about the studio’s past work and memories.

Then, without warning, a trailer appeared on screen. And when fans saw it was all about Maul, the crowd went wild with excitement.

Sam Witwer, who has voiced Maul in past shows like The Clone Wars and Rebels, will return once again. Fans know him well for bringing emotion, anger, and depth to the character.
