The iconic lifeguard drama ‘Baywatch’ is making a splashy return to television with a fresh reboot on Fox. Noah Beck has been tapped for a key series regular role as Luke, a rookie lifeguard full of charm and potential. Coming from a family of firefighters, Luke opts for the waves instead of the firehouse, embodying the classic Southern California beach vibe. He is a skilled surfer who loves to flirt, yet he shines when lives are on the line during rescues.

This new version picks up with Hobie Buchannon, originally the wild child from the classic series, now stepping up as Baywatch Captain in honor of his legendary father Mitch. Hobie’s life takes a dramatic turn when his daughter Charlie arrives unexpectedly, determined to uphold the Buchannon family tradition in lifeguarding. The story promises a mix of high-stakes rescues, personal growth, and family dynamics set against the backdrop of sunny beaches.

Beck brings his own rising star power to the role. He gained widespread recognition through the popular YA romance franchise on Tubi, starting with ‘Sidelined: The QB and Me’ in late 2024, which became the platform’s most-watched original and racked up massive social media buzz. He returned for the sequel ‘Sidelined 2: Intercepted’, also serving as an executive producer. With more than 40 million followers across social platforms, Beck has transitioned smoothly from influencer to actor and has an upcoming film role in Danny Ramirez’s directorial debut ‘Baton’ alongside talents like Lewis Pullman and Camila Mendes.

The ensemble cast features several notable names joining the team. Stephen Amell leads as Hobie, while Jessica Belkin plays Charlie Vale, the eager newcomer shaking things up. Hassie Harrison appears as Nat, Thaddeus LaGrone as Brad, and Brooks Nader as Selene, who brings some tension with her strong personality and clashes with Hobie. David Chokachi reprises his original role as Cody Madison, adding a nostalgic touch for longtime fans.

Production on the series is set to begin this spring in the Los Angeles area. Matt Nix serves as showrunner and executive producer, drawing from his experience on shows like ‘Burn Notice’ and ‘The Gifted’. McG directs the premiere episode and also exec produces, alongside original ‘Baywatch’ creators Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, and Doug Schwartz, plus Dante Di Loreto and Mike Horowitz. Fox Entertainment and Fremantle co-produce the project, with Fox holding domestic rights and Fremantle handling international sales. The show is slated for the 2026-2027 broadcast season.

The original ‘Baywatch’ premiered in 1989 and ran for 11 seasons, becoming a global phenomenon watched in over 200 countries. At its height, it drew more than a billion viewers weekly and launched careers including those of David Hasselhoff, Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra, Jason Momoa, and Yasmine Bleeth. This reboot aims to capture that same sun-soaked excitement while introducing modern twists and a new generation of heroes.
